About the PETA thing. I can't imagine why anyone would pay much attention to these people. After all if they want to follow me out to the river of choice at B.C.D. (butt crack of dawn) they can, it's their right. That is what they will have to do to prevent me from worshipping at the church of the bent rod. Can you imagine them following fishers around and harrassing them as they do the Deer hunters?
It's all about religious freedom. God gave man dominion over the animals and the plants. Read it for yourself it's in the 2000 year old book. Remember we're dealing with people (PETA) who aren't really struggling to survive. They obviously have way too much time on their hands. If they couldn't go to Safeway anymore they would starve to death. They have forgotten that people eat animals because they are made of meat.
If we choose to allow a fish to continue its spawning run instead of wacking it and stacking it, we are showing mercy. If PETA thinks that ending a C&R fishery is reducing human interference in the salmon life cycle, they have forgotten a basic fact....
Most of the Salmon runs we have now are planted by and sustained by human efforts. Some of the money for these efforts come from the fishers that practice C&R.
So, PETA, don't mess with my constitutional rights on freedom of religion. I'm going to the church of the bent rod, whether you approve or not. If some C&R fish go down the river belly up, so what, at least they didn't end up on the Bar-b-Q. They will end up feeding the river and the next bunch of little salmon smolts.
Sorry about the new post on the same subject but the board wont allow me to add it to RT's thread.
