About the PETA thing. I can't imagine why anyone would pay much attention to these people. After all if they want to follow me out to the river of choice at B.C.D. (butt crack of dawn) they can, it's their right. That is what they will have to do to prevent me from worshipping at the church of the bent rod. Can you imagine them following fishers around and harrassing them as they do the Deer hunters?

It's all about religious freedom. God gave man dominion over the animals and the plants. Read it for yourself it's in the 2000 year old book. Remember we're dealing with people (PETA) who aren't really struggling to survive. They obviously have way too much time on their hands. If they couldn't go to Safeway anymore they would starve to death. They have forgotten that people eat animals because they are made of meat.

If we choose to allow a fish to continue its spawning run instead of wacking it and stacking it, we are showing mercy. If PETA thinks that ending a C&R fishery is reducing human interference in the salmon life cycle, they have forgotten a basic fact....

Most of the Salmon runs we have now are planted by and sustained by human efforts. Some of the money for these efforts come from the fishers that practice C&R.

So, PETA, don't mess with my constitutional rights on freedom of religion. I'm going to the church of the bent rod, whether you approve or not. If some C&R fish go down the river belly up, so what, at least they didn't end up on the Bar-b-Q. They will end up feeding the river and the next bunch of little salmon smolts.

Sorry about the new post on the same subject but the board wont allow me to add it to RT's thread.

Hey John (Pilar), good take. Reading your envisioned scenario of PETA's following you to the river, it started me thinking that they can't affect the fishing like they can ruin a hunt. It's against the law to harass fish by throwing big rocks in water they occupy. Maybe they are dumb enough to think yelling real loud will stop the sturgeon bite for the killer Pilar boat out in the Columbia chapter of the Church of the Bent Rod? rolleyes Hey, I wonder if that crazy guy you 2 ran into on the Clackamas River while bankfishing for winter steelhead was a PETA disguised as a nearby landowner? eek Nah. Thanks John. - Steve

Sorry that I don't have the code section handy, but did you know that it is a misdemeanor to intentionally interfere with a sportsman lawfully attempt to harvest fish or game?

The PETA's out there may be willing to bluster a lot, and they need our attention because it won't just go away, but they may think twice individually if they start getting popped for breaking that regulation.

I don't think it's in the pamphlet, you'd have to go to the RCW's to get it.

Fish on...

Todd.

P.S. Don't take the law into your own hands, it makes us all look like the dumb rednecks that they're making us out to be.

Yeah, I did know that it was a misdemeaner to interfere with the taking of game. Some buddies of mine had a guy come out with bottle rockets and scare off the ducks off their blind. They called the game warden and the guy got a ticket. laugh Even though we all know that PETA is a threat they sure are a comic relief at times. Did anyone see when they decided to picket the Oscar Meyer Wiener truck during tryouts for the commercial. Well, the news clip looked something like this 100 crying children with moms sying "all little Jimmie wanted to do is sing the Oscar Meyer wiener song!!" and 10 picketing PETA idiots. Didn't look to good..

Tight lines

Kevin
