There has been alot of talk about the Canyon of the Wind and how much of a zoo it is during Springer season. Has anyone fished the canyon on the Little White Salmon between Drano and the Hatcery. I have heard that it is a pain the butt to get into but you get it to yourself and the fishing can be phenomenal.

My May is usually taken up by the outstanding fishing on the Stilly but this year I am kinda without a fishery.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!! smile

I guess if this doesnt work out, Ill have to make a trip to Chopaka or McDowell or Ell etc or find someone to head over to the Icicle with. Justin, Todd, looking for another buddy!?!??! laugh

Sparky - There's no canyon between Drano Lake and the Little White Salmon National Fish Hatchery. It's a very gentle slope from the fish barrier/ladder to the lake. However, the entire stretch is closed to all fishing. The orange marker bouys at the north end of Drano Lake is the limit. Even the tribes can't fish beyond there. It's all U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service property but they let you walk/drive through the area to see the spawning/holding salmon. The pool just downstream of the barrier falls always has a ton of salmon in it. It's fun to watch anyway.

There is however a canyon on the Big White Salmon River. Don't know much about it though and since there's only a thousand predicted springers to return there I won't be there!!

I fished the canyon of the big white salmon a couple of years back for the springers. I was the only fisherman there. I hooked and lost one salmon. I also became host to 4 ticks. I'll never fish there again in the spring. I hate ticks!
