Taking a trip over to the wind tomorrow and was just wondering if anyone was willing to share some tips on catching them springers, first time , also wondering if the fishing is good there. Any information would be very much appreciated.

There are a ton of fish in the river if you are banking it. The limit is now 4 fish. Alot of the fish have moved up to Sheperd Falls as well as most of the people. Move around if you want to avoid the crouds and sifh the "maybe water". They gotta go through it!

I fished the Wind River below the falls from Sunday to Wednesday. It was great. In the slower holes I was drifting eggs. In the faster water that required 4-5 inches of pencil lead I used chart. corky and yarn. Saw other people using huge bobbers in the slower holes also. Each day more people showed up. The hole across from the hot springs resort was good sunday and monday. Then more people started fishing the other side and did not look before they casted so it became a tangle fest at times.

Also if you have not fished the wind river before bring a backpack to carry your fish. Most places in the canyon are chore to hike in and out. I fillet my fish and throw the carcuss in the river. Yes it is legal to fillet your fish on the Wind River only when finished fishing. The game warden only needs to be able to tell how many fish you have.
The fish are biters so don't keep snagged fish. The WDFW watches from the top of the canyon and busted 5 people on Tuesday that I know of. These people were prowd enough of their tickets that they had their picture taken at the Wind River Market holding them up.
