Can't say for certain but when we drove by (and floated by) on the opener, no one was there. That lead me to believe it wasn't open since there was so many folks on the water. I figured it would be pretty busy that day.

Didn't see any rigs in there by the river when I floated by it the other day. I'm pretty sure that they are still keeping it closed during the summer. Didn't see the we're open sign up either on BH road. Still doesn't do too much good getting in there early even if it was open because there's so many damn sleds on the Sky that they'll beat ya to the punch anyways.

Why do they allow sleds on the Sky above Lewis Street? The water is shallow between holes and in the tailouts where there are alot of redds. Im not agianst sleds but they should be used in more open waters. I know most owners are respectful; in that they dont blow by you sending a huge wake, or cast over your line, or buzz back and forth over the same drift, or net native steelhead, or make a ton of noise, or make it a pain in the arse for non motorized boats.

Maybe somebody should start a charter boat guide service on the Sky were everyone piles in a 40 foot cruiser and boondog cracker bar all day!

I agree with Bankwalker & Hairball, for the first time in 15 years of fishing the Sky, the sleds have finally gotten to me. I was out on the opener and Sunday afternoon between Monroe & Sultan and the constant roar of those damn boats just gets to ya. I'm sure everybody thinks were whiny babies, but when I fish, I always try to respect everyone's fishing experience around me and blasting through the hole your fishing every 5 minutes with a chainsaw on water is not my idea of respect. Time for the boulder water upriver!

Went by on way up to Sultan on Tues. P.M. There is a "CLOSED" sign on the gate by the pay box. I think they keep it closed during summer for family that want to camp on the river. I think that is quite reasonable for them to enjoy their own place in the summer. Lord knows they don't make any money off of us. I bet they aren't even able to maintain the road on a buck a launch. Glad I don't see a bunch of trash down there or we would loose it all together.would sure hate to see them close it permanantly!

Thanks Brutha's

I agree BigDog very kind of the landowners to allow access for us fishheads. See what happens when people clean up after themselves. Hard to comprehend the thought process of guys that leave their trash behind.

I stopped by two bit last summer to go in and bank fish, and the owner told me the following: closed during the summer ( by sheriff request) due to the young kids partying down there.

I finally got me a drift boat so I will see you guys on the upper drift until it is too low.

The way I understand it is that the local law enforcement has made him close access to the river in the summers due the amount of kids that access the area in the summer to party at night as well as during the day.

I'm not sure if this still goes? But the owner told me a few years ago that they closed it during the summer months for the partyers but if you knock on the door and you're a fisherman he'll let you go on in. I've always found it difficult to knock at 4;30 am. I'm sure that they wouldn't apperciate that. During the day to fish or a late boat take out would be fine. We did it late year and no problem.
