I usually find myself fishing on the N.Jetty in Ilwaco usually at least once in the month of August for Coho & Kings. Bobber/herring is the method of attack. It's entertaining fishing and lots of beautiful scenery to enjoy. It can be a little dangerous though!, if you ever fall off those Volkeswagon size barnacle covered rocks you're going to be hurtin for certain. More than once, I've seen anglers that have fallen on the rocks get hoisted out by the Coastie helicopter.

Lead head jigs and plastic worms. Cast out count to 4 then start retreiving slowly. The name of the game is to keep the jig as close to the rocks as possible but not too close. Bring lots of jigs till you get the hang of it you'll lose some gear. Kick in the but to land a 10# ling with ocean swells. A long handle net is also nice to have along. Good luck.

Lead head jigs in 1/4 to an ounce depending on the rip..... and I too count until I feel the strike then after that you know what depth to start reeling in.... catching sea bass off those jigs is fun! I use 12# test out there! those lings are strong!! good luck!! smile
