Has anybody been out fishing lately in the Cowlitz at the "Wallace Gravel Pits public access Area"? If so have you run across any locked gates or had any access problems getting in or out? Has anybody from the pit questioned you to why you were there? Please yet me know, as I am keeping a written record of any events that may have occurred at the pit locations. Maybe all the efforts are starting to work and pay off! Please let me know.

Thanks,

Cowlitzfisherman

If your coming from Kelso, Take I-5 north to exit 57. Turn left at the exit stop sign. Go over the freeway bridge until you see the large truck stop. The road should be "Rogers Rd." Follow Rogers rd. until you see "Mandy" rd. to your right. Take a right on Mandy Rd. Follow Mandy Rd. tell you see the large Gravel Pit to your left. You will see the large white and blue name sign at the pits entrance. The entrance is the one with the 2 large red metal pipe swinging gates. When you enter the red gate area, stay to your left side and follow the power line road all the way to the river bank. Park anywhere along the river bank to the right side of the power line road. Don't drive much more then a hundred yards. from there, you can walk along the river either up stream or down stream as the map shows. remember, do not go to the right or inter the pits working area.

There is lots of drift fishing water all summer long. during the winter, they plung at the top end. Theres lots of area right now to fish bobber and jig, or bait and spinners

Good luck and let me know how it went.
