I used to fish steelhead flies up there a lot back in the day, and haven't seen it in years. And I don't even know if there is still a 'fly only' zone (not talking about your girlfriends Fly); I haven't got the regs handy. If there is, how's the C&R steelheading going up there? When is the usual peak time range. Thanks much. - RT

Where is the "canyon" in relation to the fly only water? Below it right? How far below? I have never really fished the Kalama before and am curious. I'd like to try the "canyon" area this summer or in the fall for the silvers. Is it below the hatcheries? I don't think I'd like the combat fishing in the fall near the I-5 bridge.

RT, above summer Creek is great water. Some of the best Steelhead fly water around in my opinion. I did learn to fly fish up there and still spend a lot of time up there. The main problem is that they dont allow hatchery fish above the upper hatchery anymore so that cuts way down on the numbers of fish up there anymore.Great for the nates just limits chances.

My grandfather owns property up there, if there is a good run this year get a hold of me and we can go up and fish the area at his place sometime. I will keep an eye out and if I see fish starting to show up I will let you know. I used to do the best from august all the way through fall. His place is just below what they call they Holy Water.Anyone who has fished from Anderson's property down has gone by the Cabin.
There is also a flyfishing only area on the lower river in the fall don't know the boundry's right off the top of my head. take it easy.
