I have been going to Lake Wannacut in the Okanogan recently and still fishing with powerbait on the bottom seems to be what works the best. Does anyone have any tips on still fishing or know anything that works better than Powerbait? I'm looking for that edge to out fish my father-in-law....

Thanks

Either shove him out of the boat or file his hooks dull.

I would recommend using power bait eggs (normally fred meyer and Kmart carry them.) as opposed to regular power bait, utilize a size 10 gamakatsu hook. Start off by going to at least a 2ft leader off of an egg sinker hook up and work your way up in length of leader if you do not have any success at 2 ft. I normally out fish all of my partners at still fishing by changing my length of leader and scanning the lake and finding where there are fish feeding. hope this helps. laugh

I have used powerbait and power eggs in combination quite succesfully. Use a #12 of #14 treble, hook a single power egg on one of the trebles, and mold a similarly sized ball of power bait on the rest of the hook. Just hook the egg a little bit, they're pretty tough. Use two different colors as well. I have sometimes used the same egg to catch as many as 4 fish, plus the egg helps to float the hook better with a smaller bait. I have had better success with smaller sized baits.

Try using Garlic Marshmellows ran up the line, and then a nightcrawler on the hook. Then slide the 2 marshmellows down and start out with a 2-3ft leader. This works great for me all of the time. Hope this helps.

I have had fun outfishing my neighbors next to me by taking a fairly large piece of nightcrawler and blowing air into it so it will float with a hypodermic needle.
Hide it and don't let anyone see what you are doing!
I have caught steelies doing this, when no one else could catch them!
I have also caught numerous lake trout with this, while everyone was using power bait.
It's fun! Everyone else goes and gets nightcrawlers, cuz they see my foam cup of crawlers. But they don't know about the needle! It floats it well off the bottom giving me the edge!
