Just an idea for you to try while jig fishing. Blood knot on an 18" extention to the end of your line, leaving about a 6" line tag at the blood knot. After tying on the lower jig, tie on a good attractor steelhead fly to the 6" tag up above. This is often effective for steelhead flyfishing, so why not for jig fishing?

A six inch tag attached to the bend of the hook with a fly tied on works pretty darn well too. The fly is generally riding a little higher in the water column. A tiny corky in front of the fly will float it a little better. Green Butt Skunks, Caballeros, (cerise version of a green butt) and bright wooly buggers have been the best for me. Use a heavy shanked hook to keep from straightening it out.

Guilty as charged Backlash. But I was just kidding around and showing the guys my "Teeny Reach" as the cam went off - that's why no smile in the pic. The fish was a big 14 pounder, but looks like a 20 pounder with the Teeny style photo. wink Please excuse my silliness.
