Where are the fish at Underwood. Big numbers of fish going over Bonneville and the Dalles but very few fish at Big White Salmon. Where aer the fish. Are they stacked up in the Columbia, or just shooting straight up the columbia? The Columbia is 63 degrees right now and maybe it needs o warm up a bit more before the fish come into the coolers rivers to cool down. Any other ideas as to where the fish are right now? Any info would be appreciated.

I noticed that too. Drove by last Thursday and noticed that no one was fishing the bench. Not a single person!! Hard to believe. I can honestly say I've never been there when there was no one else there-even in the wintertime... rolleyes

I think they are shooting straight up the river because it's not too warm in the Columbia for them to hold up in the cooler tributary mouths yet. I also suspect many of the fish are going into the American Indian's (correct term to use as of now) coolers. mad rolleyes

Hmmm...when I opened this thread I expected to see some big ol' albino `nookie. Bummer, may have to go home and P-shop me up one to sell to the Weekly World News for a mint.

Actually, while watching Iron Chef this weekend their theme ingredient was genderless salmon. No eggs, no milt, nada. They said that something like 1 in 5000 salmon end up this way and since they don't have reproductive organs that all the energy that would normally go to those parts instead went to the body itself, making it taste better than the normal fish. Looked like chinook to me.

Okay, way off topic I know.

It sounds like the salmon used for your televised, nudey BBQ show is a triploid king. They grow at an astronomical rate (all species), but sometimes you'll find out that the meat won't be as firm.

1 in 5,000 ? What a crock, if it was a triploid. You could probably get 4,999 out of 5,000 in a "controlled" environment, or 100%. I'd go with the 100%. Public and private hatcheries have been dealing with these for years.

It wasn't a triploid, I'm sure of that. As a matter of fact it had NO legs at all, let alone three.
