You could fish the Necanicum River that is at Seaside, or drive further south and fish the Nehalem.

Now think about this... you could spend the whole time with the wife and kids and earn yourself a massive kitchen pass for a good trip with the boys later...???

Sometimes it pays off to look ahead... Its a Win..Win deal.

B-RUN STEELY... head fishing trip getter away with guy of Idaho wink

like the above post, there is the Necanicum - but its not a big summer river. Bound to close to dry by now, unless you were going to try tidewater lower estuary for Searuns. If you have a boat or guide - the Nehalem usually starts picking up for Salmon. Although there are a few bank holes on the lower Nehalem. If you have a boat the Other alternative is Astoria - which is supposed to be hot for Sturgeon now. You can also get a charter boat out of there for Salmon which hasnt closed off the columbia yet.

Although its probably good advice to work on the kitchen pass, i'd have a hard time turning down a day of fishing.

I just checked the regulations, and the Necanicum is closed. Don't fish downstream of the Hwy.53 bridge located a Necanicum Jct. Better yet, get a copy of the regulations when you get there.

Yea, I understand what you mean about being beat down. I am pumped up for steelhead. I quit watching the dam counts when salmon season ended. I have been wondering if it was going to be a big year or not. Stands to reason with the amount of salmon that made it back this spring.

I think youre about outta luck for steelhead down Seaside way until winter. I fish down there alot then but for now I would say go out on a charter for salmon or maybe sturgeon. The bite down there has been awesome for both. We limited on sturgeon on saturday up by the Astoria bridge. There are already silvers being caught by dudes sturgeon fishing. The amount of bait in the river was incredible! eek
