Boys (and girls), it was just to easy. Fished with four in the boat. Left the dock Sunday at 6:00 for a nice bar ride and good ocean (until the wind came up and the rain came down) day. Four in the boat fishing on 3 rods. Eight nice silvers for the smoker and BBQ. One 13lb'er and one 11lb'er. The rest were 7 to 8 and one a very small 4lb'er that was the first fish of the day. Monday was even better than Sunday. Four fishers that included my dad, my nephew, 10 years old, and my son, 9 years old. Bouncy bar and rock and roll ocean. Hey no pukers this time. Everyone took Bonine the night before like I told them. It works 24 hour. Good stuff. Ok, went 10 miles out to 240ft of water 2 miles south of CR. Many doubles even though we fished only 3 rods. We got seven decent silvers, one in the 12lb range and a couple in the 4 to 6 lb range. On the last fish I told the boys to send the outer two rod down to dredge the bottom. I sent my middle rod out twelve pulls. Mind you, I was trying hardware for the first time (coyote lure blue and chrome). Hook a few silvers that were native on it.

Then it happened. 12 pulls on a coyote spoon...WHAMMMMMMOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Fish ON!! Line stripped out and I killed the engine. Reel 'em up boys this is a big king. 12 minutes or so later nice little slab comes to the boat. 30lbs of Chinook buck. Limited Out! Headed for port. Made the bouncy ocean worth while.

Going over on Saturday for the bouy 10 and Sunday for the Ocean.

Good thing you can get that extra tag in Oregon this year. I'll be by to inspect that tag, it has to be full by now. It didn't say in your post, but I am sure being the gentleman that you are, either your dad or one of the kids reeled in the Chinook. wink Good job RB.

Well.....? nope. I realed that sucker in because it hit my rod so Nah,nah, nah, nah, nah. It was my fish, mine I tell you. My boat, my rod, my fish. Unfortunatly, no NB aboard. We just had to take turns.

Thanks for the congrats Spooled. It was truley a blast to hammer that fish.

Spooled talked about the extra tag this year in Oregon. Be careful, I heard you can only tag silvers on the extra tag and no chinook. Any truth to this?

Good question Pitch Pocket. I don't know, because I usually release the fish I catch, so I never will fill my tag. Now old Fishhammer can probably answer that question as he goes by the name "Catcn-n-Eat" on the other board. Heck, I have only kept 4 fish this year, and one was so the "Hammer" could keep fishing in Flotilla II. He's never met a clipped fish he didn't like. How 'bout it Hammer, whats the story on the second tag only for Chinook? I thought I heard the same thing, but didn't pay much attention as I won't need the extra tag.

Good question chummer, er I mean spooled. I really do not know the answer to that. What I do know is that the extra tag lets you record any salmon. I guess I will need to find out because I only have 7 more spots on the Oregon tag and 16 salmon spots on the Washington tag.

I just hate to see salmon and stealhead go to waste. So I do keep most all the fish I catch that are legal. Love to catch and eat fish. Spooled suggested that moniker. Any way, I figure that if I don't keep 'em they go to the Natives or some federal pennitentury in Washington.

Well, I guess if they only allow Coho on the supplement tag then I may just have to loose my tag or......catch and release? hummmmmm aaa ... I dont think so. That would be against my moniker "Catch And Eat"!!!!! Spooled, Your one of the few dudes I know that is proud of the fact that you will never tag out. Class act or maybe just crazy? Who knows? What I do know is that we all really enjoy fishing no matter what legal practice we participate in.

Spooled. Leaving tomorrow night for 10 on Saturday and will fish the ocean on Sunday. I'm still looking forward to getting into that 40lb'er club on Chinook. My best is 38lbs. Good luck on that fly fishing up by the dam.

Just to let you guys know, either WA or OR tag will work out of Ilwaco. Lets see thats 20 (OR) + 26 (WA) or 46 fish. You can also get a fresh catch card for WA by simply filling up the first. I heard the extra Oregon tag is for hatchery fish only. So the way I understand it, you can catch coho or chinook as long as they are hatchery origin. There are many ways to legally catch a lot of fish, so you don't have to run the licence through the washer. wink

Finclipped, thanks for the information. By the way, just joking about loosing the tag. My conscience would not allow it. I do have a call into fish and game for the answer about chinook.
