Decided to head to sekiu yesterday morning with my 5 year old to get a few silvers... Fishing was really slow. Picked up 1 pink, 1 nat in about an hour and a half.... decided to make a run to Neah and 25 minutes later was knee deep in silvers! Started out jigging, man I love working them up to the top and watching them slash at it! Once that slowed down, grabbed the fly rod and couldn't keep them off it! After finishing off our limits we headed back to sekiu, at the launch I was talking to a couple of guys who had gotten their limit and was amazed I'd ran all the way to Neah when fishing was so good at sekiu.... It took them almost 5 hours to get their fish! I was getting fish every 5 minutes at neah! They aren't that far away, why is there such a difference? Neah is more reliable than sekiu from my experience. anyway, great day on the water.

What method were you using, and what time did you get on the water at Sekiu? The longest I went without a bite has been about 30 minutes, until I dropped the downriggers to 45', then it started up all over again.

I usually fish from the bay to the edge of area 4 and back. I have an 18 footer, so the run to Neah Bay can be a bit tiring, but I've been up to Sekiu three times this year, with a total of 108 fish to the boat. Last weekend it was 53 fish including 4 humpies and 5 kings. It didn't seem slow to me. If you have any questions on my methods, I'd be happy to share, and save you a 40+ mile round trip not to mention saving your kidneys

Andy.

Hi Jerry,

Thanks for the info. I'll head over there when I have less than a 20 salmon day. I have Sekiu pretty well dialed in right now, and feel comfortable with the area, the camping set up, and very short time to get to the fish.

Where in the Neah Bay area should I head to in case the need for a change of scenery comes up, and have they filled their king limit outside of Tatoosh?

I think I'll stick to my methods, but a starting area would be great.

Thanks again, Andy
