Thats great news about the huge numbers of Steelhead on the Columbia!!

My question is, does anyone know of a productive place to fish where you can bring a vehicle close the the river? The reason is my wife really wants to do some Steelhead fishing but we have a 6 month old baby and no (trust worthy) baby sitter. So we'd like to do some fishing while keeping the baby in the vehicle with one of us.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks in advance!!

Hmmm...drive in steelhead fishing? Couple I can think of....
Barrier Dam at Cowlitz River
Boniville Dam on Columbia River (plunking hole mostly)
Mouth of Deschutes River (OR) at boat ramp

All of course have plenty of company, but have good chance of hooking a fish within sight of your car.

The mouth of the Olequa on the Cowlitz is excellent as is the county line park on the Columbia about 10 miles west of Longview

Kunan - I've been there..... We have two boys under two years. I use a backpack to carrying the eight month old while my wife looks after the two year old.

Try Drano Lake on the Washington side. There is good access along the road leading to the hatchery. There are alot of steelhead returning to the hatchery plus alot of upriver fish pull into the cool water of Drano Lake to rest if the mainstem Columbia gets too warm. Pitch spoons in the early morning for your best chance at a steelhead. Good luck!
