I need to get to Kodiak in september and need advice or some phone numbers on how to get the most afforable plane tickets to Alaska. I need to go to Ancorage first then catch a flight to Kodiak. Any help would be great.

Who have you gone through? What are my options.

I've been to AK about 30 times and have always flown Alaska Air since they are typically the least expensive. Lead time is one factor on the cost, the other 2 are the time of day you want to travel, and the day of the week you leave and come back on. Typically, Sundays, Thursdays and Fridays tend to be more costly.

I believe they even run a red-eye coming down to Seatac (saw one landing at 5 am one day when I was there). Not sure if that is cheaper or not.

Check fairs via one of the links posted above (I use Expedia) daily since they typically change fares about 3-4 times per day. The Kodiak leg is what kinda screws you since there isn't alot of competition for that route

I've used both 1-800-BETTER1 and cheaptickets.com. Both can be good, yet painful. For example, I used 1-800-BETTER1 for my most recent trip to AK. I was booked on a 6:00 am United flight on the way home. I made the painful mistake of *NOT* calling up United and confirming my flight that week. Needless to say, I was surprised to find out that the 6:00 am flight never ever existed and it's always been a Midnight flight. Man, talk about getting screwed over.

Yeah, you might get some cheap tickets, but ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS call up the airline the week you travel to confirm your flights.

All I can say is: Dork. Dork. Dork.

Oh, and if I have a choice, I always try to fly Alaskan Airways. United sucks. Continental is Good, but sometimes expensive.

Another option is to try priceline.com, you can't pick and choose what times you fly, but you can usually save about 50% off any other price.

From Anchorage to Kodiak give Era Alaska a try. My buddy flies for them, and they might be about your only choice. Good luck!

I saved myself any trouble and just went directly through Alaska Air. Cost me $450.31 but atleast I know everything will be squared away.
