I often think about what colors will work best for fish. Don't we all? I just bought some new spin 'n glos. The factory sometimes paints black lines on spin 'n glos. When the spin 'n glo spins the black lines twirl in a backwards direction. Why backwards? Why couldn't the lines twirl forwards? Would this increase fish catches?
Most spin 'n glos also have white wings? Why white? Couldn't the wings be pink or chartreuse? The wings could be any color, but most spin 'n glos have white or reflective. I guess the only way to know what fish will hit the best is to prove this over time. Have the black lines and white wings been proven the best over time?

My opinion on the black lines on spin-n-glos, and their white or metallic wings, is that they provide contrast. A pink winged bobber with pink wings would look a lot like a pink corky until you were very close to it, while one with white wings has very visible movement and action from much farther away. The same thing would apply to the black lines on the bobbers. Fish on... Todd Wild Steelhead Coalition

Okay, well, seems all lures have some white, perhaps becaue any bait fish has a white belly, then the body of the spinnglo has the other color. Just a guess. Then I wonder how much the sales of any lure has to do with what people buy, if everyone is used to white wings, then by golly, thats what we will sell! Darker wings, especially in summer conditions, low clear water, seems like a good idea, are any available??
Fly casters can tie their own, and experiment, but it seems creating a home made spin and glo is a difficult proposition. Any one ever done it? -rbf :p

I would agree that the company is mostly selling to the fisherman than the fish. I was just kinda wondering if little details like that would really make that much of a difference to a fish. Some of my spin 'n glos I have marked with a pen to give it a little more contrast. But, if it really doesn't matter then I shouldn't waste my time. Right?

I think everything matters. If youve caught fish on it and it makes you more confident than do it. When it comes to fishin im supersticious but I do try new things. I also keep the old stuff close at hand.

I am glad that you guys are posting responses. I have thought about some of these ideas, but had no clue what would work. I don't plunk often enough to prove what colors work best. I guess we all have mixed thoughts on this subject. What about doing a rainbow colored spin 'n glo. This way it wouldn't matter what color a fish saw best. ??? Just another thought.
