I live in New York, only 20 minutes from the Salmon River. I read STS quite often and employ many west coast techniques. However, I was wondering if any of you fellow salmonid anglers have ever use a frsh juicy nightcrawler on fresh run kings? If so, have you ever had any success? I want to try it, so your experiences will be appreciated. Thanks Golden Crack-Pipe

Hey 'Crack, the big 'nooks will hit big live juicy nightcrawlers properly presented. Like steelhead and cohos, they will also take a scented rubber pink worm. Don't let that 'weird' ya out. It's all good. ... You can driftfish these, or float fish them. I like to wire them on brasshead or leadhead jig hooks to float fish. I also like to add just a little bit of pink yarn to the real worms for an attractant. Good luck. If they don't hit the worms you can always return to the tried and true egg clusters; fished in any of the above ways.

Hey Crack,
Another thing to add to what RT said, The worm would probably be most effective in the lower stretches of the Salmon river (Douglaston) after a good rain cools the water, and brings in some fresh fish. Unfortunately, those fish get so bombarded, I would be amazed if they bit anything voluntarily. I was there a couple of years ago, and I thought some of our rivers here in WA got crowded. The town of Pulaski tripled in size, and there were people lining the banks from the estuary, all the way to Altmar. Does it still cost $15 to fish Douglaston? Good luck with the new techniques.

KB, Some rich Senator (Douglas?) owns the land on both sides, near the mouth of the Salmon river in upstate NY. It is probably the best place to fish those kings on the whole river. So he charges to park, and walk down to fish the holes on his property. We have some similar deals here, but usually it's just a buck or so to park or launch your driftboat. There are also many public access areas to the Salmon river as well, alot more than we have here, and enforcement is SO much better there also. But remember, there are only really 2 rivers there (Salmon, Oswego) for the WHOLE east coast to fish, so what we think is crowded here, they would think that they have the whole river to themselves.

So he can pay off that cute, little intern that he's made his personal porn star since she was 17 or so. He has his house payment in Malibu to make. He has to buy back illicit photos of himself and the Pakistan Swim Team skinning dipping in the White House fountain. He has to pay off his ex-wife and his mistress. He's saving up for the new Nintendo Cube game system. So he can buy more land in New York, and then rent it out or sell it to rich developers. To pay off this tab down at the bar. So little cowgirl Juanita May Sasser can get a pair of store-bought boobies. The list is endless as to why he charges so much I'm willing to bet that the IRS does not know about this particular income. Might want to send the ol' Senator an email asking him about it. Who knows, you just might get free fishing for life

KB- all of it, except for the Pakistan Nude Diving competition held in the fountain, is made-up. Seriously though, it's common knowledge. When you have family in politics and want to be in politics, you pretty much don't get surprised at the things you hear. Condit is a perfect example. With the way this nation is, if you really want to be big-time, get into politics for the money, if not just for the power. Personally, I'd like to see someone actually give a **** about their constituents, not contributors. When and where did we all lose the power to put a person into office, instead of this corporate puppet I see today that is obviously there because of da bankroll and title he received by big business. ---> how about Microsoft for instance? funny how they ain't being broken up......
