Took the family out today and caught three silvers (5-6 lbs) off the SE 100 ft drop and also the SW 100 ft area. Fished from 8am to noon. Caught on green hoochie at 65 ft on the rigger and also at 50 ft on a dodger/herring setup. It was somewhat slow overall. I did see a fair number of netting going on. Ran into a MONSTER herring ball on the SW side of the bar. eek
Birds everywhere and the herring swimming by the boat in vast numbers. Made me wish I had a dip net! I could vaccu-seal and freeze enough for a year easy.

Mike,

Glad you had a great day with the family out at Possession. We fished up the gut from
Possession to just past the shipwreck and limited the boat by 9:00am. Got most of them
at 85 feet. The checker at Edmonds said we were the sixth boat in, and that two of the others were skunked but the rest all limited.
Looks like there is more silvers on the way.

"Up the Gut" - would that be the area around the NE buoy over to the shipwreck? I chose to avoid that area because of the crowds. I didn't want stress to interfer with having a nice time with the family, and I usually run the lines myself as my kids aren't quite old enough yet. Although my wife did net the fish - most impressive since she's never done it before! I'll be out Wednesday and figured to run from Shilshole up to Edmonds and try that area. I may fish deeper, except my depthfinder is shot and I feel a little nervous about hanging up on the bottom.

Mike,

Up the gut is simply staying in the shipping
lane, it's about 800 to 900 feet deep. Never
any crowds, they'er usually over closer to the shorelines. Your fish finder probably
won't work out that deep anyway, so get the
riggers down to 85-90 feet for the big ones.

Fished the 'wreck today - saw a guy hook and play a sea lion (by accident) he had to chase it to get his line back. We go one limit.

Cigar - what is your setup? hoochie, coyote, fly?

I had good results near the green can last Saturday (beautiful day) with 5 coho. Largest was a 13# buck on a flasher & coho killer @ 70'

Gregor,

I use a white Hotspot flasher, 36" 30lb. test
leader to a glo-man squid trolled fast 10 feet behind rigger. You can get the squid at
Ted's Sport Center in Lynnwood, Wa. smile smile

Thanks Cigar - I haven't tried a HotSpot-n-glo-man yet. Been having trouble with a Big John release when trolling at coho speeds. The Scotty release holds on nice. What have you had good luck with?
