I'm looking into getting a new spinning reel for river steelhead and coho. I want a reel that holds between 150 and 200 yards of 12 lb test. I'm debating between Shimano and Okuma. I haven't decided on a specific reel from either company so any feedback would be appreciated.

Shimano,Shimano,Shimano.I use the Symetre,and Sahara,in the 2000 series.both have been excellent reels.If you want to spend more $ go with with the Stradic.I only fish 6&8 lb test on my reels.If you want to use 10 0r 12 get a 4000 series.

I have the Okuma Epic 30 very sweet reel and cheaper than the Shimano, Some guys have had problems with the button on the handle breaking, but I have not. I e-mailed okuma about getting a spare handle in case it breaks, and they sent me 2 within a week free of charge. Service like that is great, haven't had that kind of service from Shimano. Either reel will make you a happy camper.
