I was able to fish in the boat basin today for about a half hour, and for those without boats, it is a good fishery for you.

I saw pods of silvers, averaging 8 pounds or so, in numbers of between 30 to 60 per pod just swimming around the boat basin. There are loads of fish there. Biggest fish on the dock was 13 pounds.

Most folks were fishing with vibrax type spinners, or flash and glows in either red, orange or chartruse. The method of choice was to wait for a school to swim by, and then cast ahead and bring the spinner through the school. Didn't see a single snagger. I hooked one of mine on a blind cast, the other on a cast to a school.

I hooked two fish in 30 minutes, but lost both after about two minutes of fighting. Lots of acrobatics!

I would suggest concentrating your efforts on the area near the Islander hotel/restaurant. There were maybe 8 or so folks fishing it today, but who knows what the weekend will bring.

Like you say, it's a great fishery for folks without boats.
