Heading over for a hunt and was curious if anyone had some info on Steelhead fishing in this area they care to share. I'm willing to travel some for it but would prefer to stay on this portion of the river if its worthy. Tips and techs would be greatly appreciated (along with any up-to-date reports on successes currently).

Many thanks in advance,

Saltine

Pretty simple. Mouth of the Tucannon. Bobber and red dyed shrimp. My reports are that fishing has been great. Good luck....

Fishing has been good at the mouth of the Tucannon. Another tactic that works well is to slow troll plugs (wiggle warts, etc) between the mouth of the river and the railroad brige just downstream. Stay near the north shore in 12 to 20 feet of water. If you have a fish finder, you'll have no trouble locating the fish. Then just play with colors and tactics till you get them to bite. Good luck, and hope for a cloudy day.

Would love to drop a line in the water maybe on Sunday. Where do you put your boat in at the mouth of the Tucannon? I have never been there before. Thanks in advance for the info.

You can launch at Lyons Ferry. I think you're supposed to pay 3 bucks or so at the little store store there. From there, it's just a short run up to the Tuc. Let us know how you do on Sunday...or maybe I'll just see you there.

You can also put in at Texas Rapids. Out of Starbuck take the road to Little Goose dam, and you can't miss the launch. It is free and about the same distance from the mouth of the Tucannon as Lyons Ferry, only it is upstream. Good luck, they are slaying the fish there. Checkers say they are averaging a fish for about 2 hours of fishing time. That is phenominal.
