Erik,
The lewis us sucking badly, there are a lot of fish in the mid river around the meathole area but they're off the bite. The water temp coming out of the dam is about 68-70 degrees. It's like bathwater. If you know how to get them to bite in that warm of water make sure to tell me, but eggs, kwickies, herring, etc. aren't working. We just have to wait for the water to roll on out of the dam and for the temp to drop.
Can't say much for the cowlitz though.
Keith

Hey Keith,
Have you heard if the mouth of the Lewis is doing anything? I was thinking of maybe hitting it there this weekend.

Tony,
Haven't been out to the mouth in quite some time. So I couldn't give you an honest answer. You'd think you could do allright out there seeing how the columbia is running around 62 degrees and the NF about 69. Fish are probably holding up down there at the mouth.

Tony and Keith. The mouth is really slow also. I have fished the forks where the EF and the NF Lewis come together with no luck. I also talk to my friend who is the care taker at Pekins Ferry and he says that no fish are comming in from the mouth. Keith you are right the water temp has to come down. Lots of nice bright ones showing just not biteing.
I also drifted the Cowlitz from Mission to I5 last sunday saw only some dark fish there. This big second run of fish is not in there yet.

A couple of good friends of mine fished the meathole this morning for about 2 hours without a bite. The fish are starting to show though, they seen quite a few roll, but like I mentioned earlier the water is too warm and with it running 2000 cfs where now it typically runs 6000 cfs it's going to take a while for all the warm summer water's to run out of the lakes.

Keith,
Took my son to the meathole this afternoon to see what was happening there. Saw one guy in a boat get three fish. 2 were in the 12-15 lb range and one about 8. The big one had some color, but the 8lb'er was fairly bright! Didn't see any of the bankies catch anything, but it's hard to watch and keep my eye on a 3 yr old! There may be some hope for the Lewis this weekend after all! smile

Fished the upper Cow with my Dad and friend Darrell today. Lot's of fresh fish being caught and many of them were damn nice sized. We put 4 on the bank, 6, 8, 9 & 13. 3 hen's and a buck. Lost 5 or 6 others. One that got away goes with the bank wraslin' thread RT started on ifish. Had the sucker 5 ft up on the bank, went to pick it up and it slimed right out of my hand, took one bounce, saw the river and was off like a shot. I dove after it, but it was gone!!! The hoard is coming, even with the damn nets in the Columbia!!!
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff laugh laugh
