I was wondering if anyone has fished around Lyons ferry lately? I don't have to fly this weekend so i am making the 2 hour drive there. I will be on the bank, unless anyone has an extra seat laugh I will help out on gas. what should I use off the bank? I have never fished there before. Thanks.

I was there couple weeks ago. Fishing was very good. People were using eggs and shrimp off the bank on the rocks along the road. Right after the park there is slough with bank access and people were catching there as well. We were hunting and I C&R couple using spoons (need heavy spoon in the main current) during our 2-3 hrs rest/lunch break. As you know 2 weeks is an eternity in fish timing but based on my previous experience fishing should still be good. I think Tucannon opens Nov 1st.

Snake should still be good, although I don't have any info from the past week or so. You might try the lower Tucannon, as it should have plenty of fish moving in. It is a fairly small stream, but spinners, eggs or night crawlers should work well. Good luck.

Mike,
where is the tucanon? Is that the little river that flows in to the snake? If this is getting to much out in the open feel free to email me.
Feesh,
Where they drifting the eggs and shrimp or were they under a float. Thanks.

Tucannon flows into snake about 3-4 miles S.E. of the park. As for the snake, some people were using floats in slower water and several were just drifting in faster deeper water. Most of the fish I saw were caught by drifters but I was only there for few hours. Don't use too much weight.

As Ultimate said, most people fishing the mainstream Snake use a float, although I rarely do. I just use eggs with no weight other than a swivel between the mainline and leader, and let the current do the rest. As for the tucannon, I fish upstream just enough that I am out of the slackwater. This is about 1/2 to 1 mile. The road to Starbuck follows the river. Then use bait or lures, drifting the bait. Caution, if the day is warm you could run into a rattle snake or two. Usually don't find them this time of year, but I have before.

Thanks guys,
I am going to try both the Tucanon and the Snake. My buddy is coming over tonight and we are heading out in the morning. I will watch out for the Snakes, it would be kinda rediculous if I was packing around my 20 gauge. laugh But still I hate snakes.
