Additional Forecaster Comments:
A major flare occurred on the Sun on Sunday morning (Alaska time). The resulting shock should reach Earth in the early evening on Monday (Alaska time), causing active aurora. If activity becomes high enough, it is possible that interior Alaska may actually be too far poleward to see the most spectacular displays. Anchorage or even Seattle may be better positioned.

Enjoy, could be a good one looking at the charts right now!

Thanks for the alert, Bob. That site is an interesting one to visit. Right now it's looking doubtful as to whether there will be any viewing at this location. Maybe it will clear up by midnight. Those "Northern Lights" have left me rubbing my eyes more than once, wondering if the ol' blinkers were acting up, or what.

I looked and did not see. There was a bit of overcast, but AuroBora did not show. Anyone else have a report?

I couldn't see anything of this light phenomena looking to the north and east last night after mid-night. Did anyone esle see this thing from where you live? Do you have to get way out of town away from city light glare or what?

Fishgal and I went to the top of Gunderson Mountain outside of town about 11PM on Monday night. We had lots of clouds to contend with (a high layer of cirrus and patchy openings below that). When we finally had an opening, we were able to find a big band of red to pink that covered the sky directly overhead. A buddy in Hoquiam reported good sightings there.

They were visible as far south as Alabama. I check the outlook and activity on this regularly and I'll post any upcoming high activity like this time smile

Down here on the Columbia the overcast pretty much blocked the view. At times there was a reddish glow and occasional rays could be seen overhead, but there was none of the spectacular shimmering curtains that were seen during the display that happened earlier this year.
