Eight pound summer run hatchery fish. Pretty darn bright, and my buddy took a pretty nice picture, too, the most marginal part being me, compared to the fish and the river behind me. Oops, not a very bright one. This one went 38.5", probably 19=21 lbs, give or take. Didn't take the time to get the girth. Nice picture except for the moron who didn't take his glasses off for the pic. These fish were both caught on July 17 of this year. Ryan, nice chance that I'll tell you where. They were part of a seven fish day, five of which were clipped like the little chromer above, in a river that hasn't been planted for nearly ten years. That's enough hints for anyone who knows of the river to get it. If you've ever been there you'd have to recognize both of the scenes in the photos. They're pretty prominent. If you know, keep it under your hat! Trades for other secret spots are always on the table! Todd. [ 11-14-2001: Message edited by: Todd ]

Not sure why I couldn't get it to work. A lot of people seem to be copying the long address which is actually a CGI scripting command. Make sure you right click on the file name ... e.g. UP987.jpg and then click on copy shortcut. This is what you will paste inside the image tag when making your post.
For some reason Todd, your files would not come up even when I fixed the address for them, so I stored them in another area of the site so that they would show for you.

Todd- What objectionable obscene material do your pictures contain that would cause them to be rejected by the site?!!?!? (Edit) Todd- Those are some beautiful fish and one Hell of a beautiful river. Where is it??!?! HAHA...like you'd tell me! [ 11-13-2001: Message edited by: RPetzold ]

Thanks for starting Part III Todd. The shine was coming off at the 'end' of part II . Here is Bill Simpson with a 65 pounder (not a brightest contender, but a great fish). [img] http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=1432992&a=10739464&p=56370928&Sequence=6[/img] Since we are in Part III of Keith's (stlhdr1) bright fish threads, I will bring up several candidates I think can vye for the top 3 brightest fish pictures, in post below. And new bright ones too. RT [ 11-14-2001: Message edited by: RT i ]

Hope you'll enjoy voting for the best 3? I eliminated blurry ones and ones with the lateral line and dark back contrast taken out by wrong fish angle to the light from my preference picks. That may eliminate some fish that were just as bright. My 0.02 I'll put them in the order they were posted. If your favorites aren't among mine you can add your's to a post below by right clicking on the pic, then on 'properties', then copy and paste the url to put between [img] and [/img] (only putting the IMG in caps) - or near the top use this site's storage url then just click on the copy? - and put them in a new post. fishbait: Kid Sauk (Justin) Next is Gregor: RT: [img] http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=1432992&a=10739464&p=56370927&Sequence=1[/img] Dan S. (borderline due to glare - try reposting after reducing the contrast and glare some): Parker: STEWY: Fishgals's mom: Limit of 8 per post (including any smilies), so continued in next post. ... .... best of the best continued .... Fishgal (Corey): Bob: Fuzzybutt (can you use a program to sharpen the image a little Roger?): stldhr1 (this could also use an image sharpen, and a bit less contrast Keith - talk to Parker): Rooster (Ron and Dayna): Perfect Drift (James, reduce glare?): fp: Spooled (Troy's son Snoop Doggy Dog): I suggest we vote for the top 3 steelhead and top 3 salmon. My picks ... Steelhead: 1 - Kid Sauk - hen? 2 - Bob - hen 3 - Fuzzybutt - hen Salmon: 1 - Fishgal - coho 2 - Fishgal's mom - chinook 3 - RT - chinook Vote your top 3 in the two catagories. I may submit the top 6 to STS magazine for their fish picture gallery (maybe in next spring's issue?). And add some more mint bright fish pics. We can always edit in a vote change for better ones. I like all of them JG. Like some others, yours was tilted such that the scales didn't catch direct reflected light; so doesn't appear as bright in the picture. And improper angled glare dampens the lateral line and dark back contrast. I wish I had as high of quality cam and bright flash as Bob's camera. Makes his bright fish look even brighter than in real life! btw, I like your 'Garcia' beard, if that makes you feel any better. And it had nothing to do about our mail discussion of the infantile's (jk) posts. I thought via e-mail you were his young age too, so I responded in like manner. Had I known otherwise, it would have been a different response. [ 11-14-2001: Message edited by: RT i ]

JG & RT, Isnt that a salt fish anyway? I was under the impression that we could only submit river caught fish!

Here's a nice bright little hen. Thanks RT.. I am still working on how to properly downsize pics.. I have purchased a new software _Photo Editor Pro but have yet to play around w/ it. I'll take the pic off to save some time on this thread... TH www.thcustomrods.com [ 11-14-2001: Message edited by: TH ]

All right here's three more to compete with what's out there. First a two toner summer run of the lewis. Second, another chrome 15 lb hatchery summer run. Third, a couple of Nov. winter runs. And last, a chinook hen from last monday with parker. Keith [ 11-14-2001: Message edited by: stlhdr1 ]

There's little doubt most of these fish were comparably bright. But this has become a fish PICTURE contest. Angles, lighting, and focus have so much to do with the pic results. Bob really has the angles down; and the flash on his camera must be 10,000 candle power they make the fish look brighter than in real life. Keith, in your new ones just above, the first one is as chrome as they get, but it lacks the angle to best reflect the brightness and light. I think even on sunny days that those using the flash to 'fill and highlight' are doing it right. Your second one has the right light on the side but the belly on that one isn't gleaming snow white like most of your other fish. TH, your chromer isn't squared enough to the camera so the glare took out the back and lateral line contrast. And it would really help these threads to downsize the pics before posting them. It saves download time and server space; and won't cause having to scroll acoss to read - like in this paragraph. Besides, downsizing actually adds better clarity and brightness to a fish pic. That is one really nice fish though! StorminN, I was able to click on your posted url and saw your pics, which are very good. Those are the professional picture opinions of "Ebert and Hanson". ... Naah, just my opinions based on seeing so many fish pics, and talking to guys who actually know their stuff with photography - which I don't. We need 'fishead5' (Doug the pro photog) to check in with in his opinions. RT [ 11-14-2001: Message edited by: RT i ]

Hey, RT,
Gimme your critique of my first picture at the top of the thread. Seems to me that it's pretty good. Beautiful chromer, nice two-tone contrast, killer background with river and trees. The only part that's not perfect is my mug. At least I'm smiling!
Todd.

Personally, I think this is a quality photo. Good lighting, good subject, and this spring nook has excellent color and spotting that is easy to see on the photo. No touch ups here. [ 11-15-2001: Message edited by: parker ]
