If this high water keeps up I'm gonna go nuts. We should organize a meeting at a central location to blow off some steam, voice some opinions, allow for familiarization of members to each other, and most importantly, watch some HOOTERS. Ponder's New Players Club sound OK? So what if they don't have food and JEB can't make it from Lewiston. We could do that or just go to Humptulips and hang at the RR till the water comes down...don't know about hooters though...Might see sum mighty big arses (not just us fishermen)
ARGHHH!!! Between my old lady, high water with lots of fish under it, and the fact that I'm middle aged, half-bald, overweight, unemployed, and chronicaly ugly...well, maybe I'll just take up bait fishing to make myself feel better.

Oh hell, if this water would just come down....

I've never even heard of Ponder's Dan; but I think you can count me in. I figure you have good taste in beer and hooter's (whatever those are). If the water doesn't come down you can hook a dollar bill on a jig and cast and retreive it across the stage? No 'fly' casting allowed in those places. laugh

RT,
Aside from Fred's in Missoula, Ponders Cornerand what my old woods buddies from the coast call "[Bleeeeep!] City" is a stalwort establishment for the men in search of the holy hooter. The downturn of the issue lies in the fact that no suds can go with the jiggles. Have to leave that to you progressive Orygun fellas. Those one dollar dances at the Acropolis on Milwaukie and thier three dollar, ten-egg omlett are hard to beat! Oh, one of the dancers warned me to stay away from the lamb-gyro....FYI.

OK RT, I'm going back to my final paper...I'll be done on Thursday, then if weather willing I'm in Steelhead nirvana. If the weather sucks, I'm flying back to Sun Valley to ski (under 21 degrees) or fish the Big Wood (over 21 degrees and a bad Jagr/Rumpy hangover)...let's go hammer sum hatchery fish when the weather gets gud!

Hey, better mention that the Big Wood is a nice trout river thru Ketchum. eek ... Isn't the little gem I've read about called Silver Creek a trib of the Big Wood? (I never saw it coming back thru S-Valley from the upper Salmon/Stanley Basin). And if you get the time, lend us your fly expertise and tell us what you would use in the B Wood this time of year. Fast sink tip and black wooleys? ... btw, I haven't had the pleasure of experiencing Fred's in M-town either. Geez, I thought I got around wink

Also, I can't travel far yet with the lingering broken tailbone challenge Dan. If I can have a friend drive me up while I stretch out on the back seat I could make it up to fish pretty soon. On my own will have to wait into the new year a bit. Keep in touch. I know you're are going to be surrounded in every direction from your place with steel chrome!

Steve

This time of year on the B-Wood...use a crane fly larva on a floater with an indicator fished straight upstream. Deadly! I used to tie them out of a piece of deerskin...have to show you sometime. Scott Schnebly, who owns Lost River Outfitters was my local GURU for that region...he'd key me in on wha was happening and where. GAWD to be on the Big Lost River North of Mackey this time of year would be insane!!!!

Silver creek is its own animal. Don't quite know its origins(it is a spring creek), but fished it year round...duck hunted it in the winter...and HAMMERED BIG BIG BROWNS in the winter and spring on it. I've got the videos to prove it (in between hot spring epidsodes with the North Carolina and Boston Gals)! I'll always love that creek...if anyone gets the chance to fish it, do it with enthusiasm but be pious for it can humble everyone. But, enjoy the rewards (aka the early June Drakes) because they can be HUGE!!! The big boys do get crazy at times!!!

Hey RA3,
I'd do that, but every place I could hit has a bunch of old farts with jugs of bad influences. Hard to justify sitting all day in a plunkin shack drinking butterscotch schnapps orBV with the old farts to my wife....although there is some social merit in spending time with your elders!!!

Chuckn'Duck,

Although you've certainly satisfied all the necessary requirements, I don't remember appointing you to the Stump Jumpers board. Come to think of it, we haven't had a meeting in about 15 years.
