Hey guys, I've been away for a while, and have been catching up on the backlog of posts. Haven't been fishin' since a day on the Satsop with Dogfish earlier this fall. Gotta say that the flaming and cranky cusses on this BB are near an all time low in my opinion. So here's something to think about as Christmas draws closer... This is a picture of my dad, Ray. This was taken in Sekiu a couple of years ago and you can tell he was pretty happy holding that fish for the pic. That's a memory that I will hold on to for the rest of my life, because guys, my dad passed away unexpectedly on Veterans Day due to complications with the chemo treatment he was taking. I loved to go fishing with my Dad and will miss him a lot. Think about what's important to you. I really hope that your family and friends are more important than any snagging thread or protecting some private zipperlip hole. Let's treat each other like family on this BB and look for the good in each other. Let's put our egos in the box for a while, be friendly, take someone fishing (Andy, you're on my short list) and remember what's most important. It's not just about the fish we like to brag about, it's about the time we spend doing what we love with the people we love. Make the most of it! That's all...Happy Holidays everyone! I'm sorry to hear about your father. It is sometimes difficult to keep things in perspective in life until something life-changing occurs. Let us all work harder in trying to remember what is truly important in life.

Hi Kendal,
I am sorry to hear about your Dad. My thoughts are with you and your family. Maybe you could share a story about him when we go fishing.
Andy

seacat, I am sorry to hear about your dad. I was 16 when I lost my dad, fishing partner and friend. Now at 47 I have 27 year old son who hasbeen fishing with me since he was 2years old, and will be fishing and bonding with me for as long as I hold my rod, (poor kid has about 50 years left to fish with me ) We fish every chance we get and I consider him my best friend and he thinks the same as me. Great thread made me stop and remember how nice life is! Happy Holidays. Scott

Great post Seacat. Thanks for sharing that with us. This is just another one of those "wake up calls" for us to enjoy every day to the fullest; no one is promised tomorrow. Happy Holidays and tight lines to all.

Seacat, My deepest sympathy to you and your family... a reminder to all that life really is Precious, enjoy the moments that you do have with your family. And enjoy your time fishing, no one knows when it is our time and we sure as heck dont have control over that. Peace and Harmony to all during the upcoming holidays.

Seacat, you are so right on the money. I am sorry for your loss. I still take my dad fishing at every opportunity, I feel that that is what really matters.

Sorry to hear Seacat. Makes you think about the small things in life that we take for granite everyday. Being pissed off at someone that cut you off in traffic or stupid arguments in here arent any good for anyone. Time on the water is icing on the cake...

Seacat-
I know where you are coming from, man do I know. I lost my dad and number one fishing buddy to cancer two years ago. He was the ripe old age of 54. Ladies and gentleman, everyday on the water is a blessing, especially when it is spent with family and good fishing friends. I keep in my heart all of the fond memories of dodging freighters in the Straits during September and take comfort knowing he had a front row seat when his granddaughter caught her first fish...

I want to thank all those who replied to my post, both here on the BB and privately. It really helps to share, even though it hurts. I can't forget about my dad, so sharing what happened helps to get through the tough days. creekwalker - Thank you. Dave Jackson - Love 'ya man. ReiterRat - Thank you. Dogfish - Thanks Andy, I've got stories for sure, from Pt. Defiance to Sekiu! Kev - Thank you. STRIKE ZONE - Thank you. RiverLiver - Thanks and keep making the most of your time on the water with your loved ones. fish4steel - Thanks. RT - Thank you. Yup, my dad was loved by all who knew him. Hope he's making the most out of the fishin' holes in heaven! God knows how big they are up there. fishinfreak - Thank you. tilla - Thanks. bank walker - Thanks. Spinnin' fool - Thanks and man can I relate! OK, back to your regularly scheduled fishing program. I promise to get back on the water as soon as possible and post an honest report 'cuz I only fish well known and crowded spots, like Pt. Defiance!

No problem, man. One of my credos in life is "Boobies heal".
