That might be the only time I would ever take a "snagged" one, yep I'd "bonk" and throw in the truck  RT- what can we expect out of you and your new digi toy next ? Maybe a pic of that really good egg recipe right ? Or maybe a detailed diagram of your zipperlip We're waiting......  Chris

Received this reply to my email from WDFW: Thank you for your e-mail correspondence to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) Fish Program.
Your question is a broad one, as it means different things per different bodies of water, and also is different per salt and fresh water, and per species. If you are referring to the difference of snagging verses legally hooking, the rules state that you must fish in such a way that the fish voluntarily takes the hook in its mouth. And almost without exception, you can keep a legally caught fish that has been hooked in the gill plate forward.

Thanks for the info. I guess Doug Kelly and Nebb were correct as well. Therefore based on WDFW e-mail the STS fish is legal regardless. WDFW Should revise or expand on the Snagging definition on page 13 of 2001-02 sport fishing rules. I keep very very few fish in WA and did not know about "gill plate forward" rule. Maybe this rule has been mentioned on other threads hence the horse!? I like the other picture better!
