ack!!..breaks my heart..loved this rod..one of the first ones I ever made. Stopped by gloomis in woodland and they are going to replace the blank. But they redid their line and no longer have the 1024 in GL3, which would be the replacement for this IM6. So the STR1024 in GL2 at no charge for the downgrade or the STR1143 at their replacement cost. Which would you chose?

No 1024's in GL3?? confused confused

The 1024 GL3 is one of Loomises all time best selling steelhead rods. I mean the 1024 and the 1025 are the steelhead rods.

I'd call them and get the scoop!!

BTW-If, for some reason, you can not get a hold of a 1024 GL3 blank, pay the replacement cost and get a 1143 Gl3. The GL3 is a major step above the GL2 in weight and feel (sensitivity).

Ryan, I placed the broken rod on the receptionist's counter at their offices. Asked who to see about getting it replaced and they called someone over from customer service. She showed up and ask what happened and took my service info and went back to her desk. When she came back she stated that they redid their line and didn't have the replacement blank, showed me a folded brochure that didn't list the 1024 in a GL3. confused either the 1024 in GL2 or the 1143 in GL3....

The people at Loomis need to pull thier heads out of here a$$'s. I took in a broken 1143 GL3 to buy a new tip section. They said they didnt sell the GL3 Blanks in balck anymore. The Factory rods in GL3 are still black but the blanks they sell are Mahogony. They told me I would have to buy a whole new blank. Well needless to say that pi$$ed me off a little. I said "I want to buy a black tip, You still make that blank in black. So Whats the problem?" They didnt have a good answer. They finally said they would try to find me a tip. Thats been over a week ago and they still havent done anything about it. I will let you all know how it turns out.
In the last few months I have taken in 3 different rods. One with a loose reel seat. and 2 broken rods. The servise I have recieved on all 3 occasions was less than desirable.

I've never fished with a Loomis but I've got to wonder if they're really worth it considering all the ones I hear about going back for warranty work and all the headaches involved. eek

I should have stated that this was entirely my fault and told CS this as well. They are being very accommodating, but this also their policy..so it is to be expected.

Ryan - as far as no 1024 in GL3..after talking with them yesterday I believe that the blank will no longer be offered as just that, a blank. They will however, continue to produce the model as a factory rod. frown

I really liked this rod and it's companion 1025. They have served me well for 15+ years and the ROI is unmeasurable..far beyond what I would have hoped for when I built them. If the replacement will perform just as well....
