The magizne is, Salmon, Trout and Steelheader. If you go to Top Foods in Aberdeen you will find the Dec-Jan issue on the rack. I am sure other stores carry it too!

Wow! This thread caught my atttetion. I guess titled "52lb Steelhead", tends to do that. Yes, I read the article. Would I cry? It all depends on the circumstance of losing the trophy. I don't think I have ever hooked into a Steelhead nearly that large. High 20s possibly low 30lbs yes, but not 50 lbs. If I lose it on account of a gear failure or something I could have prevented than I'd be pissed. If I lose it because I ran out of room to follow it and couldn't catch up to it swimming, than you may come across me on the river bank as a shaken, incoherent, drooling, crying mess of a guy..... Like the time in the Optimist area of the EF Lewis in March when I set the hook into something of pure evil. I lost that fish over 2 miles downriver and over 2 hours later after it got dark as it broke me off on a bridge pilar....I damn near needed mental therapy.....to get back by next morning.....and ever since.....to try for a rematch. x

Hey Zoggster:
I refer to those chrome freaks of nature as "pure devil", or "Satan with a hook in his mouth".
Nuthin like hookin one of these bruisers, having it peel off most of your freakin line, jump like a Flying Walenda, burn out your arms, turn your fly reel handle in to a frickin portable garbage disposal, and reduce you to an exhuasted, sweat rendered, knee knockin, jabberin, stumblin, google eyed, spaced out drone, with your private parts soaked in your own pee.
It's only happened once, and it was better than any sex I have ever had.
I know damn well that that B*stard went back to the hole and told all of his cronies that he had reduced me to a gelatenous mass of human flesh, and I love it.

50 pounds seems like a stretch, but i have seen two fish over 40 pounds. one of them is hanging on my wall.i could send you a picture if you want to see what one would look like. the fish was taken out of a net on the quinalt river a few years ago. 35 pounds is not an uncommon fish for the quinalt. they get one every year in their nets.

Why couldnt it happen? gaurenteed if you would have told some one before this season that someone caught a 14lbs hump they would have laughed in your face. but it happened. i mean mabye it was just a supperior fish that was smart enough and skilled enough to live that long and grow that big. Tyler

I believe a 50 lb steelhead is possible. But until I see a picture....I am leaving it in the loch ness category.
I have seen the picture of the mounted world record steelhead, caught by the young boy up in alaska. Someone must have snapped a photo of that "50 lber" caught on the babine.
