The youngest smolt on the board has a question.

I am in search of "5 - 6 mm" Pale Pink Puff (foam)Balls. In my area I can only find the 2 mm foam balls for using with roe-tuna balls, and the brightly-colored "9 - 10 mm" balls, which do not work well in this area.

Can anyone please recommend one or more stores where I can order some of the balls in the "5 - 6 mm" size (preferably in light pink)?

Thanks!

Try a Michael's craft store. There have a variety of colors and sizes.

If you still can not find 'em by the first of the year let me know and I'll be able to hook you up.

They are still produced and distributed by Rivers West. I dont know if he will sell small quantities direct but you could give him a try.

Bought'em and tried them...not impressed. If they were a hair tougher and a hair larger then they might work. Probably catch lots of fisherman though.

They come in 3 differnt sizes and can sometimes be a pain to fish as they are brittle (the very reason they are biodegredable and safe to use in our rivers) and can slide down the hook but they are my favorite low clear water bobber.

A shrimp tail with an orange puffball slid up the hook and a long leader... wink

Scottie, I would just wonder if there is anything I don't have out in the tackle shop. I am scared to clean it up, might find something I just might use.
Try me, I probably have it.fp

Thanks for the "puff ball" feedback everyone!

FP, Thanks for the picture (you do seem to be on top of things in this forum) of the River West puff balls . I have tried some of those in the 9 - 10 mm size in bright colors, and have not had any luck in our generally clear water in Coooool California. If indeed they have smaller sizes, does anyone have an address for River West?

I have tried the Walmart's and numerous tackle shops in my area, and have not had any luck finding them (hence this Post). The one store where I bought these pale pink balls that the steelies can not leave alone no longer carries them, and they do not where they got them from.

I do like the idea about Micheal's. I will try there.

If anyone else has any other ideas, they would be appreciated! I must act quick, as I can smell that the fish are in the Bay right now swimming towards me as I type......
