As I recover from my surgery, I'm going to have lots of time off, but unfortunately, sitting in a computer chair is not something that's going to be very good for me, so RT has kindly offered to help co-moderate through the end of January when I return to full actiom smile

We've discussed some interesting topics that he'll bring up that should lead to some interesting discussion.

Thanks, and be nice to him everyone wink

I'm glad your back surgery went well Bob. And I do know it's tough to sit for long after this procedure. So I am glad to help out by returning temporarily as a co-moderator for you while you recover. I am able to sit significantly longer now after several weeks of broken tailbone healing, but still have a ways to go yet.

I have briefly brought up some ideas to Bob about opening up member discussion threads about improving the board demeanor. It seems to go in cycles somewhat, and it has deteriorated a little lately. By this I am refering to bashing, name calling, being overly argumentive past a fair or productive level, and overly reactive to posts that offend you. I am right in there with some of you guys about needing to clean up my act some (maybe that's why Bob mentioned to be nice to me - I've been gettin into it with a few people here lately). smile

I have to leave to Dad's house for dinner right now - running late - but later I will put up some threads for us to mull over a better direction for this BB to take, where needed. Or go ahead and post some ideas in this thread anytime. - Overall things are going quite well otherwise.

I also have some ideas for having regular contests on the BB here. We've done some already (jigs - spelling), and we're open to any sugestions for more of them, in this thread or a new thread. ... One idea I have is for a small committee of fishing experts to come up with a challenging 25 +/- question fishing quiz. I would seek sponsors for some significant prizes; including a quality rod or more. The challenge would be finding 3 other experts to join me to make up the quiz plus consensus answers - because I think most would rather try the contest. Need your help on this one Bob, so we only need one or two other quiz makers.

..... Oh ya, I can't wait to delete posts by Ryan and Os. laugh ... jk

..... And to find out the identity of anonymous bashers. cool ... just kidding about that too. Maybe. wink

Ryan, I hope this doesn't put you off your breakfast after reading this, but here goes: I am kind of an older version of you. I was a lot like you when I was your age. Mind always working, mouth often running before the mind's thought's were complete, good fishing ideas, and in people's face when not in agreement with them. And also ... oh wait!, I'm still like that :p laugh . I just have a little more pre-thought and calmness, that come with being an "old fart". Not that old of fart, btw. Maybe that's why you and I have gotten into clashes in a number of threads. 'Like personalities clash' is more than just a cliche' - there is a little truth to that wisdom. With that said, I would be glad to fish with you, and I know I would learn a few things from it (aaaaah, probably not). Just don't get in my face if I do something wrong on your river turf. wink

And Aunty, one of my all time fav members on these BBs, you came up with another good 'toon there. smile It just needs a second character representing Fishbait following me up and down the stairs taking pics of my backside to post, and it would be right there! laugh
---------------

We'll get after some of these things, just like Ryan and I did there, to better understand and communicate on here. It's part of what I had in mind about opening up to people's feedback and contributions to making this good thing we have better, and more fun.

Steve

I wonder why everyone is so uptight with all the good fishing everywhere. We all are catching lots of fish. For example I had a 27 steelhead day the other day and no one else on the river. Then my alarm went off and I was so mad. I had just hooked the 28th fish. The conclusion is, we should not allow a simple alarm clock to ruin our day. Always look at the big picture.

Merry XMAS all.

Hey Boater, I'm good for a few laughs when I slip down muddy steep slopes. The only reason I am doing this for a little while is so I can delete a couple of your posts. laugh Nah, jk. I am just trying to help Corey and RR with mod'in the BB while Bob is healing; but tough to sit much for awhile.
