I am in the market for a new fishfinder i want to spend less than $200 dollars I need just the basics, mostly crab pot depth, also some depth readings for new salmon areas, etc. If anybody has ideas it would be a help

I have the basic Hummingbird 100 on my sled and it works awesome, in the sun or overcast. Cost about $119.00. I can see fish going under my boat! I use my sled for both river and lakes so I didn't need a fish finder that went down to 600 feet. Range is 120 feet. It also has a duel beam transducer so you want to change the width of the area you want to see.

Good choice Aunty M, I sold a number of fishfinders as Christmas presents over the past 6-8 weeks, mostly Garmin and HB, not suprisingly (to me anyways) I have had quite a few people return their HB's and exchange for the Garmin (mainly the 160 Blue)I have yet to see a Garmin be exchanged for an HB.

My LowranceX-70(3000 watt) and Eagle Ultra (600 watt)finders have always served me well. The more power the better.

HBP, Boaterworld in Everett, and yes, we also have a couple kids working there. ROEBOAT, when it comes to power ratings on electronics, peak to peak wattage which you mention doesn't mean much, its the RMS wattage that you go by when comparing. Your X-70 is 350 RMS which is decent, your Ultra is 75 RMS, thats as low as they come.
