Yes that did happen. Was actually 6,000 gallons. So far no issues ( if you can call that no issue) No fish die off or anything yet. Its a big river so I suppose its not going to be the end of the world. Still sucks bigtime. Thats a lot of gas.

That was last Sunday, We had left the lower river at 3 and when we got to Clear Cr. they were stopping all but local trafic. Wouldn't evern tell us if the were going to open the road that day for sure. We peeked over the bank and you could see the stuff on the surface and the smell was pretty strong. I didn't want fishing grar soaked in that so we bought a book and magazines in Kamiah and waited it out.They let us go thru ant 6. They had the tanker up on its wheels and soaker rags all over. for a half mile the highway was covered with some absorbent stuff that looked like sawdust. It looked like the truck had just tipped over on one of those long sloping turns. I sure hope the fish are ok. The deisel should have stayed on the surface I think.

So you O.P guys understand that your state record fish was a CLEARWATER FISH caught in 1973. We hear all the crap about how much you care about the resourse..... These are the head waters you dumb asses and we get three replys on an issue like this... No wonder you can't get release of wild steelhead release as the rule,,, you really don't care all that much.

Aw, c'mon, B-Run...by that measure we're all uncaring slobs...are all Oregon anglers who didn't weigh in about the bunker oil spill out near the coast last summer to be similarly condemned? Are all North Puget Sound anglers likewise uncaring if they didn't weigh in about the jet fuel spill into Lake Samish (and from there, the Samish River)?

And where was your kind caring heart on June 10, 1999, when Whatcom Creek in Bellingham exploded, killing an 18-year old student of mine (who was fishing) and two other boys?

Please, by all means, continue to keep us updated on developments, but spare us the guilt trip. We're all floating along in the same oil-soaked hull...
