If you go to a test version of our HOME PAGE , I've added a javascript menu to create slide-out menus for different portions of the site and information within those sections.

I'd sppreciate it if as many of you as possible could stop by the page to make sure the menu system works for you. The Links ARE NOT active, so you won't be able to follow them, but please let me know if the placement shows up correctly for you ... which should be the left border down from the top of the page a little and not overlapping any pictures or text unless you place your over a topic and the slide-out menu opens up.

If you have any bug reports (placement, doesn't function, whatever), please let me know and perhaps give a little info about your machine ... operating system (Win 95 or 98, or?), Browser type (Netscape, Internet Explorer, Opera) and Version (should work fine in all 4+ version browsers.

Thanks!!

Works here just fine on IE5.5. Just to the right of the Photo Gallery/Video Gallery links I have the word "use" in ultra-small type. Not sure how it got there.

Also, the Home link does work...sort of...to the applet's home page.

Bob-
It works for me...one thing I did notice though is that the font within the slide-out menus is a little blury/not real clear.

Hi Bob I have the oldest PC around. 28K, 5.0 Netscape, Windows 95. For me the Site Navagation over laps the writing in the black section with the pictures and also the other boxes in the red strip under the Site Navagation frown Hope this helps but as I said its a real old PC. Dan

I found the site very sticky-- things were slow to load and response was close to molasses-- lots of delays when I click on a selection. Scrolling down the bar was slow, and it seemed at two points that my screen was frozen. I would rate the webpage as unusable by my system.

I run an iBook with cable modem and the latest and greatest IE for Mac.

Hey Bob,

The page took 1 minute 32 seconds to load on my slow 26.4K dialup. The page, once loaded, was really slow running. When I moused over the menu items, they would take about five seconds to appear, and I could watch them draw. Perhaps it's a problem with the Mac version of IE, because it isn't my machine... I'll try it again with Netscape and report back.

I'm running a Mac G4 dual 450MHz, Mac OSv9.1, and IEv5.0

If anyone know how I can get a connection faster than 26.4 here at the bottom of Sequim Bay, let me know! Even the satellite things aren't an option, they are only for PC's for now.

Thanks everyone so far for the input ... not too worried about overall page speed at the moment 'cuz many of the images weren't optimized yet and were many times larger than they would be in the finished version.

I'm in the process of relaying the tables on the page to see if the menu system lays out without the minor tweeks we've seen. I'll also change the font to see how that works out as it is very crisp on my desktop and fuzzy on the laptop frown

Thanks again, I'll post a note up here when I upload test 2 smile

I am with ONTHESAUK and G-MAN. I have DSL but it was slow loading for me as well. I should say that it loaded very quickly but I had to wait to scroll down. Not complaining, just giving you feed back. I still visit your site even if you gave us 13 bits per second eek

Bob,

Can you add a "Views" column next to "Replies" column? This way you can tell how many read/view a thread.
