My fishing is usually limitted to an hour or 2 in the morning on the way to work (snoqualmie). I occassionally fish on weekends, but with 2 kids under 2, those weekends are getting more rare.

So, I'm taking next wed off from work and planning to do some serious steelheading. I want to try something other than the Sky, Snoqualmie, or the Green, because they are close to home and I fish them most often.

Any suggestions as a place worth exploring within 3hrs from Seattle? I'll be bank bound and don't like crowds - or if there are crowds, I try to work up or down stream of them. Any suggestions?

Even better - are any of you planning on fishing on the 30th and want some company??

Send me email if you want.

Thanks in advance for the help!

PP,

As you may have already noticed, the hatchery steelhead runs are winding down pretty fast now. The date you chose kind of falls within the *lull period* between runs. There are always a few late brats around, and maybe an early nate or two, but the odds are not really in your favor. At the risk of drawing fire from the peanut gallery, I'd suggest taking a look at the Wynoochee river maybe, if the conditions are favorable (flow, visability, etc...). The hatchery run there is typically a little later than most of the Puget sound rivers. Expect company for sure. If you do a search here, you might find some access places to fish if you are on the bank. The O.P. rivers are always a decent bet as well.

Good luck to you wherever you go. smile

Thanks 4Salt.
I understand the timing issue, but the date works best for my schedule at work.
I do plan on taking another day off closer to april to work on finding some big nates.
