Nice combo! A buddy and I fished Hein Bank Sunday and managed one nice halibut. This was our one bite of the day. Didn't have a scale, but the length was 50" and this sucker was thick! We tried a little blackmouth fishing too but had no takedowns. We fished all over the place and never really found any bait? At the boat ramp it appeared that most folks were going home empty handed.

MReynolds, nice combo. I saw a lot of arches at Hein suspended around 100 feet.

We launched at Cornet Bay at 6:30 and arrived at Hein Bank about an hour later. Fished all over Hein and Eastern bank until 3:00. No fish, and no real signs of life.

Had nibbles at Hein early on, and then I set the hook and it pulled back ripping my mainline snap-swivel apart. I've not had that happen before... Reeled up with my knot tied to a small piece of wire.

Can't beat the weather and had a great trip! Thanks Greg...

Talked to John, of John's Sporting Goods in Everett at the Freeland Texaco Sunday night, as he was headed back with a cooler full of halibut. He and his fishing partner landed 2 at Partridge, 1 at 40 lbs. and 1 at 100 pounds. It pays to be good.

Don't forget that blackmouth season closes today in MA 6 and closed in MA 7 on March 31.

Happy to say we didn't go home empty handed, 3 halibut for 4 guy's should of been 4, but who's complaining, fished area 6, found a spot away from the crowds and had it all to our selves, calm water and good tides, what a day,
