Hello everyone. I'm not sure if something like this has already been posted or not, as I haven't been on the board much in the last few weeks. But I'll just proceed, anyway. As some of you know, last monday was my first time doing the Piscatorial Pursuits chat thing. As a matter of fact, it's the first time I've ever sat in on a live, multiple person chat. I've done the one to one thing on AIM, but never this kind of chat. Anyway, in the hour or so that I was there, I noticed a couple things. Now like I said, I'm totally new to this multiple person chat thing so I don't know if these things are similar elsewhere or not. First thing I noticed was that there was no common subject that people were talking about. There were some sidechats between a few people like for instance Rob asked me if I'd been fishing a certain river, which sparked a short minichat between the two of us. This leads to the second thing I noticed. It was really difficult for me to read between all the posts that had nothing to do with things I'd posted or questions I'd been asked. Which leads to the third thing. It seemed like however 'lagging' (slow to go anywhere) the chat was, as I believe Dave commented, the posting appeared to go very fast, one after another, making it hard to keep up. I can type 50+ words a minute, but when everybody posts at once, it really is hard for a slow reader, like me, to keep up.

My suggestion? I think to cure all of this, maybe even get different people to join in chat each Monday, there could be designated times for chatting about various topics. Different topics each week. Like for instance, we could discuss Petzold's many girlfriends from 8:00 to 8:30 p.m. Then we could talk about our still intact virginities from 8:30 to 9:00. Then on to secret tricks and tactics for catching 1+ pound perch from 9:00 to 9:30. And then from 9:30 to 10:00 and after that, could be 'open chat'. Talk about whatever you want to. The above 'topics' probably aren't what most would want to discuss (obviously), but maybe we could vote on suggestions that members could post each week.

I don't mean to make anybody angry by this post. Just wanted to comment on the chat. Share my opinions. And I'd like Bob's and all of yours too. What do you think?

Gooose, can't believe rumor especially if it's coming from fishermen! Picked the wrong time to buy, as with a boat and sportsman show Verle's is a tad backed up...mid next week best case confused

Saw a fine selection of your favored rod flavor at Verle's.

Went maggot Wed. and Thurs. on the you know and hooked up both trips. Met Fishhawk...fish catching...goodguy!

FJ...out.

I'm a driftboating, sledding, bankmaggot with a little time for work!

For those that have been having log-in problems, please see the Bob, Help! post for possible solutions.

For those that have found the mass chat to be overwhelming ... the private chat is available to certain members (direct the message back to them using instructions on the hlep page and other people won't wonder what you're talking about).

There can also be several subrooms with smaller groups if you wish ... this might be a good option for those looking for discussions on a certain topic ... just make a subroom (again ...the help page) with the name of the topic you're interested in and see if anyone wishes to share. The subrooms are usually listed in the lower right hand corner smile

G-Man...do you see a screen at the bottom that says Raidersoft Java Chat Services in the left hand corner. If so, does it say connecting in red lettering? Let's go from there.
