I heard a boat had flipped on the upper Sol Duc yesterday. Everyone is ok (thank God) and they walked out. It was on the Hatchery to Salmon Drive run. Lets be careful out there!!!!!!

Glad to hear everyones OK! Do you know what kind of experience the rower had?

Before I ever attempted it on my own I thought it a good idea to first float it with a guide.

I floated the upper Sol Duc yesterday from the guide's hatchery down past Bear creek to the hatchery. There are some real narly rapids along that stretch. Our guide made it look easy, but I would't try that without experiance and several trips with a guide showing me the ropes.

Glad to hear they made out OK. PFunk

FJ, Hope it's not a faux pas to mention other guides but I fished with Bob Kratzer. He has great fishing etiquette for other fisherman and really knows his trade. Great time. I would eventually like to go out with Bob.

I saw Bob in the cafe in Forks on Sunday morning as we picked up lunch and would have said hello but he was in the middle a conversation with his buddies and we had big natives to catch and release on our minds.

Hope this helps, PFunk

Isn't there a stretch where you want to stay to your right or is it left? Floated this last fall and didn't get to the ramp till dark in the fog. eek Heard Bob's boat caught a 47 lb chinook that day.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

PF,

You picked a good guide in Bob Kratzer. I'm sure the Really Big One would approve of your choice. laugh It pays to know which line to take..........when you don't, you tend to get a little damp!
