My dad just got back from New York City. He spent 3 weeks there, volunteering for the Red Cross. His job was to help folks find housing because they still are without a home. Five months after this whole thing went down. Over 37,000 families, yes 37,000, have been displaced. Most without access to their belongings for a long period of time.

He walked past ground zero 4 times a day, but just couldn't bring himself to go up on the viewing stand. A few too many horror stories.

Sorry for the bummer, just thought I'd share.

I think I'll take him fishing when our schedules match up.

Andy

I think we are too busy worrying about the following:

Who snagged what?

Who MAYBE did not release the fish that he is showing in his picture(s)?

Why do they post about my zipper-lip(s)?

I would love and do anything to learn other people/area zipper-lip(s).

Drinking is bad but I do drink moderately.

Sleds are bad until I buy one.

Bankies are rude until I sell my boat(s).

Once a magazine can't teach me anymore, it is time to boycott it and disrespect the guy who buys it.

Is Loomis better than ... well, that is acceptable. Never mind. wink

Feel free to add to the list.

Could not have said it better, lately NW fishing has been of a higher caliber then some of the threads on this board. This board still rules compared to all the others though.

Dogfish, Cudos to your dad because it takes a special person to volunteer for the really important issues of our days. This is a good board because many here do instruct or share their ideas to make us all better fisherman. I spent a few days in New York and it does put life in a new perspective, enjoy and share it while you can. People need to remain involved whether its fishing rights, personal rights, or World security.

Thanks for posting about your dad's heroism Andy. I'll bet you're proud of him. And hearing about the challenges of 37,000 families helps put my small problems in perspective.

Come on down here to Oregon for a visit Tyler. We really need someone we can "beat the snot out of".... Just kidding. I wish you were the typical teen, Tyler. Then I might not be quite so worried about where everything is headed.

Hey Tyler....Do you need a guardian angel??
Here's a history lesson for free:
I saw what was written on that other nameless
board under your moniker by somelse. That is characteristic
of many of the posters from there. Never fear...you haven't been born long enough to know that ob (other board) was the birthplace of the ultimate trashbarn
and those who say they are going to throw their
weight around and trace your ISP are behind the foundation of the ob. You should have been posting there over two years ago. Oh by the way??
How are your grades Dude? That's the GA (guardian angel in me)!
