Well here it is, the blackmouth opener, but there aren't any to be found here in Yokosuka Harbor in Japan! SeaCat and Dangerous Dave hope you do well back there and save some keepers for next weekend as I get back Friday. Hope to see some reports posted here soon.

Well, I went to Point Defiance, and it basically stunk - too small of a tide. I did find a bunch of bait in the dark right off the slag pile, and hooked a little keeper right off the bat, but let it go hoping for something bigger. Sorry I did now - bait went away and so did the fish, only bite I had. Was thinking about No point but that didn't sound too good either. Anybody hear of fish up PT way?

As of Noon today only 2 fish were brought in to Pt. Defiance. As of 1400 today only 3 were brought into Narrows Marina. I heard of more caught but not too many. frown

I was planning on going to PT also Sunday morning but friends said that it bit A*S today. Three boats fishing the afternoon tide cange and 8 people and only 1 hit from noon till dark. We may try some Area 9 haunts a bit further south instead. A concerning topic is that they said very little to no bait at the bank or inside the bay? confused Will post how I do tomarrow.

Spent the day out at Hat. What a joke. Too bad you don't have to get a license to drive a boat. There was one boat ( TOI ) a 30+ footer that was just about running everyone over! I am surprised he didn't get a full beer can thrown through his window. At one point there where about four boats around him blowing their air cans and giving him the one fingered waive. He was just oblivious to what the hell he was doing.
If you see it, watch out! I did think it was nice of him to let us fish in HIS SOUND though... mad

Man, it was just slammed out there! When the wind picked up it cleared it out a little. Only saw a few caught. Got three shakers myself but other then that not much excitement on the poles. Sure did get nice in the afternoon. Oh well, get 'em next time right???? cool

Two of us fished the West side of Possession in the AM and hooked 5 b'mouth and 1 silver. We kept the two largest fish which were 8 and 9 pounds. Man, that wind really sucked. Didn't see much bait at all. I talked to a couple of old timers at the launch who fished PNP in the morning and did real well on fish up to 9 as well. We were using cut plugs and so were the guys I spoke to.

Andy,
No that wasn't chad he is gone this weekend. bummer. Yeah Blackmouth sounds good. I always like fishing in salt water. The next time I will be home is spring break I think March 14-25 so that is along time away. I am spending 3 days down your way steelheading over spring break so I am looking forward to that. Are you blackmouth fishing this weekend? Later.

All I can say is look north to area 7. I fished the river on Sat. with pimpinshrimp and we got 4 fish. When I got home 4 different friends called and all their boats limited in the salt chuck. The biggest being 16 lbs. I couldn't give out the exact location because they would kill me, but it was in area 7.

I hit area seven as well. Spent saturday diving for crabs (easy limmits) and sunday afternoon after blackmouth. I think it would have been better in the morning but we still found a good group of fish at slack tide. I ended up keeping about a 7 lb fish. The funny thing was the size of food it had in its stomach. It was full of small shrimp about 1/2 long and as wide as pencil lead (the stuff in pencils). All our fish were caught on hardware. The herring and the squid never got a touch.

I heard PT was a bust on Saturday and decided to try a little further south in Area 9 where I had heard there was a good herring spawn going on. smile smile smile It was a good thing, seems everybody likes herring we picked up a 7-8 lber, and 10 big dungees, not one under 7 inches. eek Missed another good bite later but saw one of the larest herring balls I had seen in a long time, couldn't get the jig through with out snagging herring. Picked up a few shakers there and called it a day. Nice weather though and no wind to speak of, waiting for the Canal to open now. laugh laugh

I got out Saturday, later morning and fished till 3:30 between Clinton and Sandy Point. I got my limit of 2ea on my boat, one 22" and one 24." Good fighters, had a great time and not too many boats like Hat Island. Coyotee Spoons behind a hot spot flasher the trick for me! I saw lots of fish coming in at the Everett marina.

Fished around PA 3 times this weekend. We got 2 on the opener, nothing on day 2, and 1 shaker on day three.... no herring around.

Hey UMRules...No luck at SOuthworth this weekend. I was one of the first boats at the launch and waited till just prior to sunrise. water was glass for about a hour, then the wind picked up and I fought it the rest of the morning. Took my future son-in-law fishing..this made it even harder cause I had to operate both downriggers and still drive the boat frown Every time I let go of the tiller, we would get blown off course...Thanks for the raingear...Ed needed it...I think he also got a little seasick..He was lookin a bit green laugh with the boat going up and down...Never found bait and did'nt see anyone catch any fish....Ended up with a little shaker that we pulled around for probably 30 mins..Never even knew he was there.....I'm thinking of hitting Pt. Defience this upcoming weekend..Talked to Seacat and he's doing the same..Directional Finder also seemed interested.....Only good thing about fishing this weekend was the oppurtunity to get lines wet and op test the boat... rolleyes
