Whats your fav. for nates? I know mine, lets see if they match up. Nice lure for the big guys, no deep takes like you see with bait. Just a clean simple set-up, 2/0 hook- 3-4 foot 15 lb.ultragreen leader, and let it work down the seam. laugh

I've had my best luck using the black/red Aerofly in low, clear flows for nates. What's your secret color?

are nates not so line shy? it seems unless the water is brown i have to use 6lb leader. ive been using 8 all day sometimes and havent touched one then i switch it up to 6 and bang fish on. this has happened to me more than once. any of you seen the same thing? confused

I like Black and purple with a touch of silver crystalflash. I tie mine directly on a 3/0 salmon egg hook and add a orange plastic poney bead at the head with eyes.
I fish these from a 10' deepwater express shooting head 150 to 250 grains from a spinning reel loaded with powerpro 20lb Casts well fishes well

Ther is no way I would pay a buck for them. I buy 3/0 stainess eagle claw Wrap the shank with invisable thread, spin on a clump of deerhair half way down the shank with the tips extending just beyond the bend, This holds the Marabou out and prevents collape, then tie in blood marabou spey style ,usually two colours sometimes three. Tie in some crystal flash at the eye ,slip on a pony bead over the eye and tie off a head. Stick metal foil eyes on the bead .
I think these flies cost me about 25 cents each.

Pink marabou with chartruese tuft of yarn. Kills the peninsula steelies. I've also had luck with the purple ones as well. Nothing catches fish when their not in the biting mood like an aerofly.

Alright I'll come clean, my fav. or should I say the fish's choice seems to be the marabou orange/yellow number. I don't fish this color combination any more than the others, it just seems to be the one that gets the nates. They can't keep thier dirty little kipe's off it. I lucked out and won a huge stockpile of aeroflys, so I fish all the colors that are out thier. cool
