First thing I'd recommend is checking the regs. You can find them online if you want - and see any emegency updates...

Second, while I don't know much about the Puyallup river steelies, when someone on this boards tells you to go elsewhere, it oftens means that you may do well to check it out. An overly emphasized re-direction may really be a signal that you've found someone's favorite 'secret' spot. That may not be what the guy above is trying to do - but just keep that in mind.

Best bet - check the regs. If it's open, go check it out. Then you can fill us in on the details! (or if you prefer - make it your own 'secret spot'...)

Good luck!

the puyallup is mostly plunking water, you may also want to take a look at the carbon while you are down there, they both require some timing to get into fish but the carbon would have more traditional holding water and concentrate more fish.

there are plenty of places on the Puyallup to bank fish, both drift and plunk.

the lower river along river road is mostly plunking, but you have to know the channels where the fish swim.

up river has alot of nice drift fishing waters. just about anywhere you can find a clear plath to the water, behind Midas muffler on east Pioneer, just behine the blue office building, you park in the lower parking lot and walk up river some to a very nice rock beach and drift the far bank.
go even farther up river to McMillan or Alderton bridges have good drift area's. further up to the Old Soilders Home have selected good area's.
i saw that the State agin was closing the river down early because of a low return of fish.
So it is best to check with the on-line updates for river closures first. eek eek wink

PhishPhreak,

You are right about misdirection. Some (I think they are in minority) do it. Not that FishinSinsation's post is not accurate but one time we ended up going to Satsop since we were in that area and despite the bad fishing reports, the fishing was good and everyone we talked to said that fishing had been hot for the past few days. For most parts you will get an accurate info but don't bank on it.
