I use those metzco tubes where I cut the loop at the mooching sinker ends and wrap the wire with pliers around the tube to secure it to the weight. works excellent, but those tubes are pretty expensive does anybody make there own tubes, if so what material do you use and how do you go about it. and feed back would be cool just gettin ready for manchester tomorrow morning. Ben

Hey Ben,

I don't mootch much, but when I do, I prefer the "slido" tubes and a round weight that clips into the snap swivel on the slido... change the weights in a snap, and you never get a weight back that is half-clipped on like those other ones.

As far as other tubes, try a fly fishing shop, they sell small hard tube about the same size for tying saltwater tube flies on... they sell it in a 2' or 3' length usually... pretty cheap, too.

I agree with StorminN, You can buy the small plastic sliding tubes at Sportco or Auburn Sport and they only cost a few bucks for a bag of them then use the round 1-2-3-4-5-6 oz weights that just hook onto the pastic slider with a wire hook up, much cheaper then Metz system and very easy and quick to change weights

Would appreciate a description of your setup for mooching. It has been years since I went mooching and I don't think we knew what we were doing at the time!

Gutz if you read this don't worry, I'm not going to make ya mooch. Well, I might try sometime. laugh laugh

ROCKFISH,

Here is what an oldtimer told me, and it works
great. Cut off the swevels, bend the wire eyes
one quarter turn, then bend them straight up.
Trolly the sinker on the main line, add a bead,
then a good six-bead chain swevel, then your leader. If you want, use duo-snaps so you can
quick change weights. Cool, huh. cool cool
