I have a 9'6" IM6 loomis, the most dredful thing happened to me with my favorite rod. I can't take apart my rod, it seized together one day and I'm looking for some advise...

Hey kid, don't fret. Seems that is getting to be a common occurance in this modern era - guys getting a rod tip stuck on their butt section. shocked They forget to use some kind of lubricant. Parafin wax is the ol' standby. ... As for getting the sections apart, I recall another thread about this same situation; so maybe you can use the search feature to find a bunch of good ideas. I suggest having another person help you pull them apart after hot tap water heating the outside section briefly. This should slightly expand the outer fit and not the inner one, making it a bit easier to pull apart. Washed hands or wearing leather gloves will give you better grip. Be careful to keep the rod straight as you pull hard on it with only mild twisting pressure; otherwise you could torque crack some of the fibers. ... Probably some better ideas than this that someone will post.

This works very well. Bend over and slightly bend at the knees. Now take your pole and pass it behind your legs. Parallel to the floor and right behind your knees. Now center the splice right between your legs. Get A firm grip on the pole right next to your knees. now spread your knees pushing against your hands. You may need to try this A couple times BUT IT WIll WORK. IF YOU TRY IT WITH TWO PEOPLE YOU'LL PROBABLY BREAK THE ROD.
let me know how make out!! And yes you need to lubricate. Normaly you can just take the male end and touch it to your face right next to your nose and make A couple turns. Just A little skin oil is all it takes. Behind your earlobe is another good place.
Good Luck
Rick
PS;Make sure your hand placement keeps you totally away from any guides. You'll be generating A lot of horsepower and if your hand slips.......Well think about it

Warm the butt section near the ferrule with a hairdryer on high heat...the heat will cause the female section to expand and allow the tip section to come out. Do not use a heat gun! Too hot!
