I have a bunch of single eggs that I saved from the last batch I cured and am out of clusters. I was wondering if I put a bunch of single eggs in a spawn sack would work just like a cluster?
Thanks
Tyler

Depending on their size, put a few in a sac and give it a shot. I've had good results up north with spawn sacs. And do a search for midwest steelhead here and see how much Hawk likes the sacks.

Hi Tyler,

I have never had the single egg issue. I just cut up the skiens, cure, dry out a bit and package in borax. Are your skiens falling apart right out of the fish?

I have seen a number of posts concerning spawn sacks, here are a few links. loose eggs

spawn bags

bait sized pieces.

Hope this helps, Andy

I have fished the Toutle and Cowlitz using spawn sacs. The results were pretty good.I also think you might have a little better hook up ratio because the sacks tend to get caught in their teeth. My thought anyhow.
You can buy a little kit at most sporting good stores that have a stand you put your mesh on,put your eggs on next, push it through the hole, slide the stand together and tie them of with stretch thread.Works pretty slick.

I'll post some digi pics on Monday about spawn sacks. Tied up over 400 last week for the extravaganza in Wisconsin this weekend. May be good, may be blown. 6 hours of driving will tell it all. Look for some sweet lookin spawn sack candy and its' victims in future pics.

Nuthin better than a pretty sack.
