I remember last year, their was a lot of talk about butt wax all over this BB, I even herd it on the river, and it didn't click till later. Does it really work ? Where abouts on the plug do you put it. or was this a joke. I remember RT ranting and raving over it, I even remember guys up by the dam hollowering Butt wax after they hauled in a fish. Let me here your Butt wax stories.

Preparation H ointment (not cream), certainly doesn't seem to hurt your chances. We use it regularly for springers. Its main value is likely to cover human scent. It has 3% shark oil and vaseline, so it likely acts like another scent of Smelly Jelly (no buns intended).

Hey thanks Jr. I'm touched. But I'm still going to follow your Dad up the 'Sop this Sunday (or 'Nooch, if the rained up west fork muddies it 'Soppy'), and we're going to cork and low-hole him most of the day. Nah, he knows where the fishies are so we'll be nice. Are you coming over this weekend? As for Prep H ... Butt Wax Rules! It actually does help the springers bite on some days. I first discovered it by putting a small amount on Warts (hey! don't go there - talkin Wiggle Warts) and catching fish; because it smelled good and fishy to me, and it has some of the chems in it that 'nooks like. Jerry said there was several days in Col. springer hoglines last year where the b-wax really did outfish the other boats. Most guys thought I was kidding when I posted that on ifish a couple years ago. ... Here's another thing I posted that could have been taken in jest - clear Caro Corn Syrup put on plugs and other lures sometimes helps catch steelies and 'nooks. They do often have a 'sweet tooth' mood. In addition to the sugar, corn syrup has strained clear corn juice, vanilla, and salt - all things the fish like. And it sticks on for awhile. Try it. Hey, try them together! RT

Hmmmm, I've often wondered if it really works also. I've also wondered if Desitin would work since it has Norwegian Cod liver oil in it. Hmmmm. Jack

The technique of using Preperation-H for a scent is many many years old I do believe.
I remember reading about it in Field and Stream, In-Fisherman or someother usuless bass/walleye magazine years ago.

No I haven't KB. In fact, I haven't even tried it for steelhead. Don't know why, I should have; but only used in for 'nooks due to the chems in it. Let me know how it works on steelhead. I have tried the sticky sweet corn syrup for steelhead and it does help there at times. As for Flotilla IV, the Kwikies aren't the only ones that are in for a real butt waxing!
