Here is the deal...... I need to know if there is much of a demand for replacement gear sets for older Shimano casting reels.

A co-worker of mine works part time in his uncles machine shop. I asked if it was possble to machine small brass parts. I showed him the parts and he said it could be done. He also said he could make other parts that are in the reel.

Since Shimano stops making parts for reels that they stop making its almost impossble to find parts for you old reels. How many people would be interested in buying parts for thier old Shimano's?

Yhe biggest cost in getting the parts made is getting the tools and programs made for the CNC machine. If there is enough demand for the parts I will kick down the money to get the stuff made. Then I will offer the parts for sale. Whos intrested?

You should call Ollie Damon's in Portland and ask them.

interest depends on price, price depends on interest....I'd get a list of licensed Shimano repair shops and send them a mailer and see what demand comes back before I plunked down any front money....just my .02!

I agree with Craven, the place to start in our neck of the woods is Johns Sporting Goods in Everett.I've always taken my Shimanos to his shop and got them back in short order.
