I am looking at repowering my sled (150HP), but cannot decide on what manufacturer to go with. Can anyone help me out here. Is anyonew better in the jet pump world than teh others??

Before you buy a motor you better check Canada first! Do a search "outboards+canada" Unless you have too much money and need more write offs.

i got mine in canada.yamaha jet4o for 3,500 no tax.i foud a mercury dealer in canda that well ship it to the house for 200 to 300 . if want to buy one in canada i will help you.and if you call up there.dont tell them your from the US tell thay give you a doller amout.are thay mite add couple houndred. is ther a spell check around her

I bought a used motor (in Canada), but found Galleon Marine in Richmond to have the best CASH prices on new Yamahas. If you have the engine shipped (around $300 Canadian) you won't have to pay either Canadian tax (Provincial - 7% or GST - 7%). If you pick up the engine in person you can get half the taxes back. In general, I found a Yamaha bought in Canada was $500 to $1000 less than a comparable engine in the US. I was looking in the 40-60 horse power range. Also, if you buy used, anything older than a 2001 won't have an EPA sticker and you may get hassled a bit bringing it back across the border.
