I am looking for help in finding quality jigs. I tie my own marabou style, so what I am looking for is not only one with a good hook, but one that has true flourescent painted heads. I have tried painting my own with minimal success. I will buy in quantity if someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks!

For my money, nothin' wrong with Beau Mac maribou jigs-1/4 or 1/8 oz. Pink and White in clear water, black and cerise in stained water. If it's real clear or slow, I like Uncle Walt's black yarn jig with the white head 1/8 oz.

Ooouch! Ya wh*** TTT.

Hey Ol'Nate, if you actually want a phos-flourencent paint on a jig head, there are some lure painting kits that have it in strong enamels. Or you can get some of that at hobby stores also. After etching the heads (or maybe just scrub the lead heads with some paint thinner and let them dry well), you need to put on a bright white primer coat, followed by your fluoresent paint, finishing with a strong enamel clear coat or expoxy. Some use powder coat based paints (Os can explain). If you do a whole bunch of them at a time the work per unit won't be that much. But you need to be patient and let the coats cure for a couple days in between paintings, to get the toughest heads. I think doing some in the 'dull chartreuse' glow-in-the-dark phos-fluoresent paint would be excellant for the dim light of morning or evening; or for Washington night fishing where allowed. ... Or else I just slept at a Holiday Inn Express, and all that above stuff is questionable? smile

I think you can get plain lead head jig hooks from either of those jigster outfits, or in a comprehensive fishing store or fishing catalog. Let us know how it turns out.

Here is my personal favorite way to paint your jig heads; first, like RT said, you must paint a white primmer coat on your head. Use only bright "white". I use a bright white finger nail polish to prime my jig heads. It dries in just a few minutes witch really helps. Then finish wrapping your jig and make your final tie. Instead of putting a clear tie sealer on the final wrap, I use my most favorite color of finger nail polish to paint the head and seal my tie all in one step. This method also will eliminate the need to buy all those different color threads that a guys uses to match the jig wrapping. I almost use nothing now buy plain white nylon thread that you can buy in bulk from craft shops. A zillion yards for just a few bucks! When you paint that final coat on the head, you also paint the white thread. The white thread then turns the same color has your head when painted.

You won't believe how great it works until you try doing it that way. You can get almost endless colors of nail polish for almost nothing. You can even get nail polish in the glow colors too. It also comes in glitter colors.

Try doing a few this way and let me know if you like it or not. One bottle of nail polish will do about 100 heads. Can't beat the price if you tie your own heads!

I'm cringing at the thought of this turning into another Vision vs. Everyotherbrand type of thread.

But I've had good luck with Rainbow Jigs. Never tried the others so I can't speak about their quality.
